Just wanted to agree with all of this. In fact, it's now making me really think about the appeal of that sort of thing--why people are so into the idea. I think it's sometimes easier for people to write stories like that, where they take the specialness established by Batman and Robin and project them backwards as if fate always had something special in mind for them beyond the chance encounters with Joe Chill and Bruce Wayne.
