""The New 52 was about showing the new world. Now we're just expanding on that world and furthering the story," says Bob Harras, DC Entertainment's editor in chief.
Make that plural "worlds." DC is bringing back its concept of parallel Earths in two of the books. Earth 2 features the return of the fan-favorite Justice Society, while Worlds' Finest stars two superheroines, Huntress and Power Girl.
In addition, G.I. Combat will offer a rotating roster of creative teams and rebooted tales of past war comics such as The Haunted Tank and The Unknown Soldier, while The Ravagers follows four teen superheroes on the run from an evil organization.
Morrison's Batman Incorporated pits the popular Caped Crusader and his army of global crime fighters against former flame Talia al Ghul, with their son Damian (who also is the current Batman sidekick, Robin) caught in the middle.
"It's like Kramer vs. Kramer, but they've got thermonuclear capability," Morrison says.
And instead of one superhero, MiƩville will create several every month in Dial H, about a guy who finds an old dial that gives him different powers every time he uses it.
Nine of DC's "New 52" issues were among the 10 best-selling comics of 2011, according to Diamond Comics Distributors.
"Part of the sign of the New 52 growing up is that it can afford to stretch its wings a little bit and so some things that are a bit more left field," MiƩville says. "There's room for a lot of different inflections in this vocabulary.""

So, JSA + James Robinson + Nicola Scott = Yay!
Batman Inc. should have Cass in (they SAID it should) so also yay.
Dial H for Hero could be interesting.
GI Combat might be interesting, though it seems to be more Weird War than more of a straight war comic.
And Ravagers... kind of sounds like Gail Simone's Gen13 run combined with Runaways, though it might be interesting. Though I'm getting Cass vibes from it, as I think I remember Gail saying she wanted to use them at some point.
For legality, here's a bit of one of the Dial H covers,

EDIT: Seems that the six new titles are meant to be replacing: BLACKHAWKS, HAWK AND DOVE, MEN OF WAR, MISTER TERRIFIC, O.M.A.C. and STATIC SHOCK.
No, please, don't cancel Hawk and Dove. Where will we get out Rob Liefeld art from now.

Static Shock I'm sad to see go, but it wasn't exactly a favorite.
Mister Terrific might have lasted longer if they hadn't spent every issue telling us he was black.
I like Blackhawks and Men of War well enough, but I think one war title is enough. I'm looking forward to seeing what rotates in and out.
No real opinion on the Earth 2 stuff. Waiting to see how they handle that world's history.
If that's the protagonist, rather than someone calling for help, on the Dial cover, then I'm very happy to see a less than supermodel superhero. (: He can chillax with Zephyr (Harbingers) and Wee Hughie and others I can't remember the names of right now.
I tried to read OMAC, I really did, but.. just wasn't my cup of tea.
And thus, Rob Liefeld is returned to cryogenic suspension, until the time it is necessary to unleash him upon the world once more.

Date: 2012-01-12 03:56 pm (UTC)I mean, it's good to see a title with two female heroes, no doubt, but they're also basically cancelling two non-superhero titles and two titles with black leads, while adding on three golden/silver age nostalgia titles, and yet another Batman one.
Whatever works, I guess.

Date: 2012-01-12 05:00 pm (UTC)How the hell is Static on the chopping block so fast? You'd figure that'd be one of DC's better sellers.
Mr. Terrific was fucked from the beginning. Shitty art, a not so great writer, and the probably implied objective of writing him as "DC's Newest Hottest Black Superhero!!" instead of "DC's Newest Hottest Superhero who happens to be Black!".
I think a far better pitch for the book would've been casting Michael as the "Reed Richards/Tony Stark" of DC. Make his identity public again and give his adventures a weird science-exploration/techno corporate thriller feel. And make him integral to the DCU by making him the ONLY (or at least first) rich, publicly known superhero whose also really fucking smart and runs a business.
