[personal profile] stubbleupdate posting in [community profile] scans_daily
At CBR's Cup of Joe Axel in Charge column this week, there's more art released for AvX. I assume that they are covers for individual issues in the Versus mini-event that goes with AvX.

Most of them don't interest me, though I can see why the match-ups have been made. Hawkeye vs. Cyclops. Colossernaut vs. Thing. Spider-Woman vs. Gambit. Not massively interested.

I shall definitely be buying I shall definitely be buying

And now I need to re-read Ms. Marvel - Civil War for the excitement of Carol vs. Other Carol vs. Rogue

Those readers who were around before the original site crashed will be able to work out why I'm so chuffed.

Most of the events the big two have put put in recent years have been planned around fight scenes, and low on plot. That's why I don't read them. They're easy enough to avoid if you don't care for that stuff.

Examples? I haven't closely followed events on the Marvel side of things, but although DC latest two events have had their fill of conflict and fight scenes they do follow some kind of plot, they do have a theme and they certainly were not advertised as mainly-a-fight-scene-slugfest.

My point exactly. From my point of view AvX is an exception(in my opinion[and probably mrstatham] a low-quality exception but certainly other people might think not), and thus it should not be compared with other events nor said that any superhero comic fan should just get used to it.

I think AvX Versus is ridiculous, but Marvel and DC often put out ridiculous stuff. idg why it's being singled out as The End Of Things as we know it.

My point was against Versus in particular, not AvX. Most events at least have something going on - even Civil War did, but I just think it's a complete joke that Marvel are going to be putting out what will very likely be a $3.99 book dedicated solely to people hitting each other.

Oh sorry; I din't notice the versus in your initial posting. The truth is that I remember those comments being made about the event in general, but seeing as I am on my phone right now I cannot properly verify it. If there is indeed an heavy plot around which the event revolves and its not focused primarly on a slugfes then its not as bad as I thought; but it still does not deviate from the fact that this is how this event has been publicized.

World War Hulk was two crackers of plot, with a mound of spray-cheese-fights between them.
