I’ve just got hooked on comics, particularly Batman comics, and I have every right to blame Linkara for it. :D

But Scans Daily definitely comes in second because it is the first site that came up when looking for scans of old Batman Comics, and true to its title, this place is the place to get a comic fix (though maybe “bringing the crack” means something else but that’s how I took it)

Anyway…

I’ve wanted to post something on here for a bit, but I’ve been having a hard time thinking of something to post that was good and hasn’t already been done. Originally I was going to post something from Gotham Adventures (of which I will in the distant/near future) but I’m ambivalent as to what pages to post. I’m ambivalent to most things I do :P

So what did I choose you may ask? Five scans from Robin #125 from the book Robin Unmasked.

Enjoy!

Tim Drake’s father has just found out that Tim is really Robin! He confronts Bruce and Tim at Wayne Manor, which results in heated arguments abound. Jack is upset at what Bruce has done to his son and his desire for Tim to quit being the awesome Boy Wonder. While Tim and his father talk privately, we get this conversation between Nightwing, Batman and Alfred that put a smile on my face.

But…Batman NEEDS a Robin Damit! But then I suppose if my mom found out I was running around in tight spandex and fighting crime she would have a s**t fest too.

I find it interesting that Bruce has made up various identities in case he is ever exposed as Batman. I would like to know more about how that would work though. They should make a story based on the idea that Bruce is exposed as Batman. (unless they already have in which I apologize in advance).
I also like how Alfred points out the downfalls of killing off those who find out your secrets. Though you solve the problem now, bigger problems will surface in the future and you start to distrust the people around you. Alfred though seems pretty damn serious about putting poison in Bruce’s dinner.

My own personal peeve: I hate how this artist draws faces. In two of the panels, Batman looks like he’s ready to sneeze. Also, Sylvester Stallone comes to mind. It’s Tim Drake though that looks the worst, though these scans are bad examples of what I’m talking about. He looks like a completely different person.

I hope you all enjoyed my first post. :)

Man, I have a complete and utter hatred towards this era of Batman, specifically because of this story.

First, without Tim being force to quit, you don't have that run of Steph as Robin that really went nowhere except setting up War Games. That's two strikes against it already.

Then...I just hate Jack Drake here. I mean, him and his mother pretty much NEVER looked after Tim since he was born, just globetrotting and letting the butler and the work take care of him, and they only seem to even notice he exists until they run out of money, and when they find out that he's this big hero who's saved Gotham with Batman dozens of times...he blackmails them? No. He's not sympathetic, he was a crap father, Bruce was a far better male role model than him, and Jack probably should have realized that.

"They should make a story based on the idea that Bruce is exposed as Batman. (unless they already have in which I apologize in advance)."

There is Over the Edge from B:TAS. Kingdom Come has Bruce's identity being public knowledge for years, and the most we find out is that his villains trashed Wayne Manor.

*Claps*

Yeah, was never a huge fan of Jack Drake.

I'm still amused, all these years later, over the horror that comes over him and his wife when they start to think that the reason for Tim frequently disappearing is that he's sleeping with Steph, who bring up her baby as a criticism. Tim's stepmum then brings up whether they know if Tim is a virgin any more or not...

Firstly, It's been a long time since I read the comic, so sorry if I'm wrong.

Secondly, if my memories are accurate: what business is it of their's who Tim may or may not be in a relationship with?

Thirdly, I dislike what they're implying with Steph in regards to her having a baby and then dating Tim immediately afterwards.

Fourthly, Are they also trying to imply that either Steph's kid was Tim's, or that she's trying to trap him with a baby to get their money? Either way: WHAT.

Having not read the story I can't speak on anything else, but I do understand how they consider it their business who he's in a relationship with. Just using a radical example, if I cam home with a racist, heroine-addicted, convicted serial arsonist, my parents would probably have very serious objections. It doesn't mean it's necessarily their business, but they certainly feel like it should be, and their opinion would certainly have a significant impact.

This coming from a guy who specifically keeps them out of his life for the same reasons.

They'd met Steph and gotten along with her though, they were judging her purely on the pregnancy thing.

well, maybe Steph has a little heroine addiction...but it's a good thing! Honest! Completely under control.
