Yes. This is real.

For what it's worth, technically DC isn't responsible for this--the shop is.

I guess it should be pointed out (if it wasn't already obvious) that anyone trading in a manga volume for a single comicbook is getting ripped off.

More info here.

For legality...

What?

Is it because they're black?

It is, isn't?!

This is racism I say, racism!

Yep. It is. By comic book fans. Not enough people were buying the books.

I wasn't buying either of those books. I can only afford to buy about three comics a week and frankly, neither one of those comics was in my top three.

Guess I'm racist then.

Not quite. I was sort of turning the "DC is Racist" yells back on it's head. Since many of the people who've said it, didn't buy either book.

I tried Mr. Terrific #1, it...really fell flat for me, with some very offensive writing. So I dropped it. Static, I never grew up with him, and he wasn't on my radar. But I was surprised given the love I've seen for him elsewhere that it got cancelled.

I tried Terrific's series. I really wanted to like it, because Michael is awesome. But I realized that Terrific is a great leader of a team. By himself, he's boring, preachy, and a little too perfect. Had it tossed in a flaw or so, maybe turning him into an asshole for being "right" all the time, I'd have been sold.

Plus, his suits were terrible.
