Well, this makes the whole cyclops thing incredibly awkward...

Cool new design though. :) I'd have thought that the Thames wouldn't be a great place for Poseidon to incarnate though, what with the pollution and submerged cars I'd have thought he'd dissolve in it.

The Thames is a very healthy river all things considered, with a wide variety of wildlife

The Thames is actually the cleanest metropolitan river in Europe. Dolphins have been reported as far up as London Bridge - they come up to prey on the fish.

Admittedly, I'm not sure it's deep enough for Poseidon's size... but it is tidal, so maybe he could arrange something.

(I'm also doubtful about hearing Big Ben from Tower Bridge. Do people think Tower Bridge is right next to the Palace of Westminster? I noticed in the first Sherlock Holmes movie that they ran from one to the other in a few minutes. They're not very close.)

Wait, Poseidon is coming from upriver? He's coming under London Bridge there. That's... really, really weird. It would make sense if he were coming up from the sea, but why would Poseidon be hanging out in central London?

On a third look, the geography's wrong. Diana stands with her back to Tower Bridge, facing Poseidon, who's come from upriver. But you can see the Tower of London behind her, on her left. She should be facing out to sea, as the Tower is on the north side of the river. But Poseidon came from upriver. Either Azzarello thinks there are more bridges east of Tower Bridge (which would negate the point of Tower Bridge) or he thinks the Tower of London is on the south side of the river. Research fail.

It looks very possible the artist worked from photographs, as every panel looks right, it's just incorrectly arranged.

Yeah, I long since gave up expecting decent geography of non-American cities in comics, if it means the artist gets to draw iconic tourist spots.

Maybe they need to consult Google Earth. I find the street view very useful for getting a general layout.

Now if I could just go visit the British Museum virtually that way.

I've gone thru some of those. But what I'd dearly love is a walk thru the Museum that shows what the structure is like, how it's laid out and where things are located within it.

Even better, a similar layout walk-thru for, say, the Late 1800's.

I've seen that and used it - sort of* - in the story I needed the walk-thru for. But what would be really cool would be a 3D virtual tour that lets you get a feel for what it's like to walk thru the building.

*Had to fudge a bit. Certain bits weren't built back in 1892, after all.

If it's consolation, they also get domestic cities incredibly wrong, too. I see my city drawn incorrectly constantly (though some artists make more of an effort than others).

I came here to say exactly this. It's not like American geography is depicted anymore accurately than non-American ones, not even on TV shows or movies. Excellent case in point? Whenever Florida is ever depicted as having cliffs, highlands, or basements when there are no such things in that state. Or at least I have YET to see anything that resembles what gets shown in media depictions of Florida and I've been up and down the state.

I *heart* Criminal Minds with a huge thumping red *heart*. However, when they set one of their episodes at my Alma Mater, I had to thump my head against the wall.

Guys, UD is not a teeny backwater religious university. Catholic, yes. Teeny? Not even.

I love Doctor Who, but as soon as NASA's facilities got depicted as having this huge massive underground basement in the first two episodes of season 6, I gave up hoping for an accurate depiction of Merritt Island, where NASA's KSC is actually located.

Or on the TV version of Little House on the Prairie where not only is it always sunny and warm all year round except Christmas (and even then there's only snow when they want a blizzard), but they have all episodes based around people climbing nearby mountains when even hills are hard to come by there.

Forget drawings--my city can't get accurate representation in film and TV! Other than establishing shots of landmarks, they film here for stuff set in DC, and they go further south if it's actually meant to be Richmond. If you would like to visit and hear our charming Southern accents, you're probably going to be very disappointed.

Don't get me started on the time Hattiesburg, the town I lived in then, showed up on Sixty Minutes. They found the one burned out, rubble-strewn lot downtown and made a tight pan that just barely missed the beautiful brand new library tower on one side and the modern office complex on the other side. I was so pissed at the stereotyping.

That's a good look for Poseidon, though.

The Thames is silty, so it can look pretty brown at times - it's misleading.

London Bridge has a clearance of about nine metres, apparently... tight fit.
