First--I get that he was "Slim" Summers, but CHRIST Cho takes it a bit too far.

The jetpack bit did make me laugh, though. :D

less problematic than the fact that he seems to have forgotten that he takes hope out to face sinister and celestials in the extinction team while saying hope's nightly escapades to beat up child molesters are too dangerous. imho.

I love that reel, obvious Hope has never seen the Incredibles.

Though the fact that she needs a jetpack makes me happy.
A) It means her powers are not global and looks to have a relatively short range
B) It means that there is a limit on how long she retains the power

I think maybe Scott's worries is that Hope eventually loses control, like the Dark Phoenix. The problem of her out alone might not be the danger she put herself in, but how she can control her emotions.

i could buy that, but he gave her carte blanche with the lights. she does what she wants, goes where she wants, has been doing this since the beginning of gen hope.

and she mentally controls the lights, so if she goes dark phoenix on a away mission, they'll probs either be flipping with her and dancing her tune or dying. doesn't seem to make much of a dif.

Isn't Cyclops immune to his own power? Or he's blow his own eyelids off. How could Hope blast him that way?

I figure the beams know to stop shooting when he closes his own eyes or is preparing to. Whether is works like Havok and Cyclops having immunity to each others powers is a good question though. Course I doubt Cyclops would ever want to try blasting himself for fun to test if they hurt himself.

Has Hope ever used a power at the same time as another mutant?

Maybe she's like Black Alice, and she's not just a power mimic, but a power siphon who steals powers from mutants. So if Hope steals Cyclops' eyeblasts then she might have stolen his immunity to his own powers too.

Hope's not genetically linked to the Grey-Summers clan, is she? I mean, I assume the X-Men test every incoming mutant for that possibility.

Why would the Phoenix care about her? Does it just come for any green-eyed redhead who's generated at least three milliClaremonts of melodrama with Cyclops

It's like they're mocking me. "Why is Hope important?" Everybody knows, but we're just never going to say it onscreen. Apparently it's widely known enough that everybody in the X-books other than Hellion and Nemesis fall over themselves to wax rhapsodic about how vital and wonderful she is, even Magneto freely and gladly gives up his sense of responsibility for the future of the mutants to her, but she doesn't know, and we don't get to know.

This is metatextually, I'm guessing, because they don't have an answer yet that doesn't sound inadequate given the build-up. But in-universe, that shit has to be infuriating. Particularly for the poor Lights, who apparently just get to be mind-controlled cannon fodder because Hope is too important to upset or confront.
