As the sun sets (or rises depending on time difference) on scans_daily's "Dude in Distress Week" (and thank you to the mods for it and to everyone who contributed such great issues), I thought I'd make a couple of posts featuring my favourites... First post will be some commissions, the second post will be some classic moments from the past, and the third will be my nomination for perfect "Dude in Distress" issue. And yes, I should probably apologise in advance for the sheer Robin-centricity of them, but frankly you should know me better by now! :D If cute guys in pixie boots aren't you're thing, please feel free to skip them all.
First of all, for legality, is a recently recoloured version of one of my all time favourite comic books covers
, one which helped spark my interests!
So I proudly present a happy pot-pourri of commissioned (or in a couple of cases, just plain lucked into) Dude(s) in Distress, even if most of them are of the same dude!
Special mention has to go to Mitch Ballard, whose work never fails to delight, whether being one of mty first two commissions, and showing me what a good artist could do when commissioned with a free hand, or translating my rough outline of a Riddler trap into something worthy of a splash page.. or even taking a classic Hardy Boys cover and repopulating it!
And then there's this recent one from Al Bigley, which I think just captured (excuse the pun) the perfect balance of deathtrap, distress and defiance!
And just so Tim fan don't feel left out, the first is a commission, the second, I'm not sure about.
