One of the spokemen from Marvel has come out and said something to the effect of, "It's not Skrulls. Of course, it's not Skrulls. There are no Skrulls in this movie. It's some other alien race."

Which of course sounds like their trying to misdirect us. Having said that: It's the Skrulls. And the movie is going to be awesome!

Skrulls would inevitably be associated with FF and likely be glued to Fox's rights for the Fantastic Four film franchise, along with Galactus and whatever else. So again, it's really, really unlikely to be Skrulls.

Since I don't think the Skrulls can be used due to the Fantastic Four, maybe they're the Ultimate versions: Chitauri(?).

That's the name I keep seeing tossed around. It wouldn't surprise me, the movies draw a lot from the Ultimates universe anyway, what's one more thing? Or maybe they just invented a new one to avoid any issues. I do wonder if the rumor going around that they didn't realize they couldn't use the Skrulls until pretty late in the writing process is true, though. That would be both awful and hilarious.

Love Loki's "I have an army" and Tony Stark's "We have a hulk" response. I think this will be a great movie. :)

Also why is Hawkeye the only one wearing the Ultimate version of his costume? What was wrong with the purple costume? :P

I think the thought is that it's too similar to Captain America's. They both have hoods with a letter on them, and if they get rid of the eye wing things Hawkeye has, they'd look even closer.

Not to diminish Natasha's badass-itude, but I find it funny that all she's rocking at the back-to-back standoff is a little short-barrel sidearm. Clint at least has grenade arrows. Really BW, you're gonna nick 'em with a p-shooter? Somebody give that lady the hand cannon she deserves (or outright ridiculous wrist shooters).

I think she does have the Widow's Bite wrist blasters. You can see their tips glow blue briefly while she loads and chambers her pistol.

Hey...I just thought of something...

In the movieverse, the Asgardians are basically science gods, right? So what if Loki's army is another part of the Nine Realms that we haven't seen yet?

Also...it might just be because I really haven't read all that much with him, but does Hawkeye look just...off in general to anyone else? I just see that turn around shot of all the Avengers back-to-back and I see Hawkeye with his bow and I can't help but think, "One of these things is not like the others..."

Comletely off-topic, the Chrystler commercial with Clint Eastwood is the best I've ever seen. It gave me chills.

Even more off topic, I am going to murder every single one of the Patriots' defensive line.Try blocking the ball instead of letting him catch it first!

Just watched it, not being American, didn't really "ring" with me I'm afraid, and Mr Eastwood almost sounded like he was doing a parody of his trademark growl, though at 82 allowances should be made.

The Hulk still has that plasticine doll look going on that he's been lumbered with since the Ang Lee movie, frankly. They're getting better and better in terms of visuals, but with the Hulk, the uncanny valley thing just comes into play, to me. Especially when he's opposite an entire set of human teammates.

Oops, I forgot to leave my own thoughts. I really liked the trailer but I'm also really excited for the movie, so. I do wonder why they're still refusing to show any substantial footage of, ya know, the enemy in the movie (besides Loki), cause I think we're not edging a tiny bit into ridiculous territory but it doesn't bother me that much. Tony's just gonna snark his way through the whole movie, I'm gonna love it. And if they managed to work "earth's mightiest heroes" into it then I demand Cap saying "Avengers assemble" as well.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how Evans plays Cap's "man out of time" angst; I think he's a great Cap and will be able to play it so that you feel for him without making you go "lol manpain".

I think they just want to keep the enemy a secret for fans. Because it's not like they need it for marketing. The main draw for most people is seeing these heroes together for the first time. They can spend 2 hours punching a mop bucket and people will still buy tickets.
