Uhhhh, context please?

OK granted my knowledge of the MU is nowhere near as good as that of the DCU but I'm seriously confused by this cover from Wolverine and the X-men #5.


Is this implying Kitty Pryde is....well, pregnant with the Brood? Because I thought the Brood just ripped themselves out like Xenomorphs from Aliens. Or is this just another example of cover art having nothing to do with the content of the comic?

Though I'm still slightly paranoid that the Brood are just a red herring and Kitty got pregnant when that Iceman-duplicate kissed her in a Madrox type deal where he implanted her with a clone of himself that he's eventually going to reabsorb.
