After Superboy fight with the teen titans. He reminisce about the battle and feels guilty about hurting them. While lost in thought Supergirl appears and tells Superboy in kryptonian tongue that she was attracted towards him by the S symbol on his costume.

Superboy at first mention to Kara he can't understand what she saying. As Supergirl get closer to him demanding why he got the house of el on his costume. He he into her mind and memories about krypton.

Maybe the human bits will even him out somewhat?

Man her supercodpiecebuttflap looks so damn silly. I've gotten over the knee antipads (they kind of look like garters here when you can't see the back of her legs), and I always liked the cape's design, but man, it looks like she's wearing a diaper that's too small.

Yeah, that part is rather silly. Like, I personally would have just done it as a simple one-piece bathing suit, maybe have the "bottom" be all-red or maybe a mix of red and blue.

But it's a little detail that doesn't really take me out of the book.

I didn't notice it until the last scan then it was like an instant evacuate switch rocketing me right out of being able to care about the actual story.

Which I guess I'm okay with because it's a pretty aggressively mediocre story so really nothing of value was lost.

i kinda like that she seems to be taking him under her wing sorta...

i also like that he's gone beyond this Angry phase and seems more like a little lost boy that i just want to hug and make feel better then reintroduce to Tim and say "HUG NOW!"

This is definitely something I'm really liking about the Super books right now--it feels like they're really doing their best to world-build Krypton and make each of the Super-clan have their own unique abilities.

I think what he was trying to sway was that in this version we're probably going to have a more confrontational relationship where the two are butting heads but ultimately grow to respect each other, which will spring forth very different kinds of yaoi fan-fic.

It could be both. Kon-El could be the guy who invented the clones, and his name came to mean abomination.

'Course, "Kon" here is already a lot more interesting and sympathetic than Anakin, but I'll never refuse an opportunity to use that. :D

I dunno, I can get a little sullen and sour during the pre X-Mas rush, especially moreso last year due to a REALLY shitty temp job, so I think I got a little visceral thrill out of that.

With Superboy right now, I kinda look at him in the same way I look at Damian. When you consider the fact that Superboy is practically an infant in terms of experience, and has known nothing but lies, violence, and people coldly and constantly experimenting on him, it's hard to see him turning out any other way without some other group showing him a better way--which is what I assume the Teen Titans will be for him.

There's something about the way the faces are drawn in this book that's very unappealing, IMO. There's very little affect, for one thing, and no one seems to have any cheekbones, for another. I just don't like the overall effect.

And for heaven's sake, Supergirl, finish getting dressed! You can't keep going out in just your diaper...

not to compare with Liefeld, but all-the-faces-are-the-same-itis is happening here..., and expressions... ? (at least Liefeld has variations of jawclenching)

And yet the artist outdoes Liefeld in pretty much every other area. Liefeld doesn't even have variations of jawclenching, it's either clenching, screaming or a straight-line flat mouth, from what I've seen. Plus, you know, actual panel composition and no bizarrely fucked-up limbs. The covers for Grifter in May show that Liefeld has no fucking clue what foreshortening is.

I know how hard anatomy is to draw - you should see my charting of wounds and injuries - but Liefeld, don't get me started... and 'self-taught' isn't always something to brag about.

Well to be fair, I do see a lot of variation in structure and the like in these pages. They're very similar to me because of the nature of the scene, but.. Nothing seems out of line or awful. Certainly not bad enough to invoke Liefeld!

As for anatomy, yes - I spent a good four to six years in life drawing classes at college and university myself, so I know how tough it is. As for Rob, I always remember him talking about one of his contemporaries (it might have been Jim Lee) in an interview and talking about them taking life-drawing classes, and whilst he never stated it, there was an underlying sense of.. Well, snideness, to it. As if his self-taught style (and yes, to be a self taught artist is an accomplishment, but it's better if you actually develop) couldn't be improved with, say, study.

But yes. Rob's foreshortening technique is hilarious. I mean, I've never actually seen anyone draw stuff getting *smaller* as it comes toward you.

"Better than Liefeld." It's a low standard... I mean this artist does seem to grasp the principles of perspective, so we're already way ahead of Liefeld.

But I still don't like the faces. :)

he learned Kryptonian by touching her. So his DNA is part Tamaranian. I believe an earlier issue suggested he had some Martian in him.

Ooooh... maybe they started by hybridizing Kryptonian and human DNA together, but then did some more genetic recombination with plasmids containing useful bits of DNA from a Tamaranian and Martian (I wonder if they used green or white Martian DNA, if that is the case?), possibly just because they could, or possibly to stabilize the end result further. Huh. Could be interesting. (And now I want to see him eventually pull with Tim, once they're teammates, what Kory did when she met Dick, to learn the many languages I'm sure he knows. But that's another story entirely, LOL.)

Gah. Okay, fine. Krypton did a shitty job of cloning in the past. Maybe cloning Kryptonians just doesn't work right for some genetically-related reason. But then that just means this is one time where, ironically, being the offspring of a supervillain is something that will very very directly prevent someone from doing horrible things.

Also, I continue to hate the bottom half of Kara's new costume. If they switched it from a bikini bottom minus the straps to shorts (or just added a skirt on top, even), and filled in the anti-kneepad, I would have no complaints about it, simple as that. But as it is, it looks fairly ridiculous.
