I'm utterly shocked by this. I was wondering how they could make this work and how it could be "bright". That is MEPHISTO there, among the worst of the worst. Yet this personification was charming in a baffoon kind of way. Not the scheming uber-villain, but just another shmoe.

On a tangent:
Only way this can be retconned is that the guy in red is NOT Mephisto, but someone masquerading as him, and by having Amara go out on the date with the faux-Mephisto and not the real one, she breaks the rules of the agreement.
