A little nit picky... the Phoenix has been on earth SEVERAL times since the Dark Phoenix Saga.... Wolverine saying that Jean killed herself... wasn't that a Phoenix/Jean clone...? Wolverine of all people should know that...

the last few times the phoenix has been on earth it has been an Ally....

also Tony and Steven seem to know next to NOTHING about the Phoenix....

hell honestly Scott's Idea seems the smartest...

Ugh... Tony... you know NOTHING about the Phoenix....

Fantastic Four and FF are amazing; Thunderbolts and Punisher are also very good. As is New Mutants, which is weird because I hate the New Mutants.

Though I don't really get the sentiment of "quitting" a company. This isn't a question of loyalty. Just find the book that appeals to your tastes and stick with it. You won't get any medals, but on the upside, Dan Didio is not going to shoot you for high treason. Probably.
For instance, the fact that the new 52 is utter rubbish doesn't stop Frankenstein from being an absolutely crazy awesome book.

I get too wrapped up in fictional things/fandoms sometimes, but. Crud. There's not a good way to put this. "Fixing" Barbara Gordon hit me very hard in the gut, forcing the real world and my personal problems to kind of intrude and sever my ties to DC's fantasy world, and going back into it, even stuff that's not related, makes me feel that hit again, if that makes sense.

I'm trying for emotional disconnect with Marvel.

(And I probably just got way too personal in response to an offhand comment online by someone I don't know. Sorry)

Fair enough. Fiction that truly resonates with you and speaks to you on a personal level is the greatest thing in the world and can be like a safe port for the soul (it's why we all like this stuff so much in the first place), but it can also utterly crush you when it hits the wrong chord.
I probably shouldn't have been so glib about it, but with the tendency for hyperbole all of us comic book geeks share and the impersonal void the internet creates, it's very hard to judge what is true human emotion and what is just the usual nerd silliness. Personally, I blame Stan Lee. :D

So, no hard feeling..?

No hard feelings.

And I've been leaning towards picking up Fantastic Four/FF... Have to check it out further next time I'm at the comics store.
