Batgirl #6

While there were some moments in this book I found a bit silly, all in all I actually liked this issue. Especially the scenes between Gretel and Barbara.

First, mum is back!



Barbara being all Oracle-like by doing her homework. That I like. Though I am starting to wonder if she still had her big iconic clock tower in this new DCU if she was only Oracle for three years.

And now, Batman and Batgirl team-up!







Not sure if I'm looking forward to revisiting the "The Joke," but I will nevertheless check it out to see if there's any mention of her as Oracle. I'm honestly still waiting on that confirmation. :(

I really liked this story--Grendel was a more interesting/sympathetic villain than Mirror, and Babs' interactions with Bruce were sweet. :)

Also--more proof that muffins will be to this run what waffles were for Steph's run.

The "Crazy=Arkham" thing drives. Me. NUTS. Either major Elephant In The Room (either that Arkham hasn't been shut down and razed yet or anyone who's the least bit "off" is declared insane and shipped off to the Asylum of the Damned) would be enough to be a major irritant. Together? RAAAAAGE!

I know! I mean, apart from the obvious inhumanity of it, that place is basically a super villain incubation hive. WHY GOTHAM, WHY? Or for that matter, why doesn't Bruce invest some of hiss millions in mental healthcare for the people?

More than likely, folks that are part of Anonymous were able to steal government documents with nothing but common laptops--I imagine it wouldn't be that hard for her.

So, does the NEW DCU tell if Stephanie was ever Batgirl here, and why she quit if so? Would it just be a matter of "oh, the original's back, I guess I'm out of a job?"

You don't want to know what Bruce says to Babs this issue concerning the Batgirl title. It's too rage inducing if you're a Steph, Helena, Cass, or Bette fan.

Over on her Tumblr, Gail's said that she's run it with editorial and at least one other has been Batgirl in the new history.

Oh goodie. Official recognition some person's run as Batgirl was made a mute point. So.. I'm assuming it's Steph who was kept since Cass's history has been nullified to the point neither she nor Helena could have ever been it. Plus Bette well we know that obviously with Batwoman.

Though if Cass was spared and still Batgirl then why did she leave the role? Because then Steph's title is then made mute and is then a gut punch.

There's really no winning.

So.. I'm assuming it's Steph who was kept since Cass's history has been nullified to the point neither she nor Helena could have ever been it.

I believe the implication in the recent Levitz interviews is that Helena WAS Batgirl/woman on Earth-2 and had to change her identity to Huntress when she got stranded on Earth-Prime. And truthfully, as a Helena fan, I still prefer her as Huntress than Batgirl for the fact that it sets her apart from the rest of the Bat-family (particularly in this case).

On that note, with Helena's history set on Earth-2 again, it *is* still *possible* that both Steph and Cass were still Batgirls during Barbara's three year hiatus from the role. Since everyone's timelines were condensed they could've both lasted a year and a half in the Batgirl role before retiring it.

Both Steph and Cass were integrated wonderfully on Batman Inc. Batgirl and Red Robin Books (The Holy trinity of Morrison-Q.Miller-Yost).

Officially only Steph exist (yeah Cass disapeared out of existence) but as DC takes Morrison as the word of God if any Batman.Inc happens on Honk-Kong or Tokyo Cass would be there

Motto. This is actually getting me to want to pick this up. I'm guessing this is a title that will gain speed and momentum as Gail gets her feet under her and we all move on to the new status quo.

1) Barbara loves her father, they had sweet talks, one time Barbara asked Jim how he managed to help the officers under his charge (without telling him that she was oracle).

Jim Gordon has been Batman's Bro since Year One (I heard that Miller based Hartigan on Gordon for his Sin City series). I like the nod that rich uncle Bruce paid for the hospital. But Bruce is not her dad.

2) A race to the top? Is this Bruce or Dick? Dont get me wrong, Bruce doesnt need to be all grim all the time, but those words kinda sound out character, just kinda.

3) I dont know where I begin and she ends? Am I reading a Fanfic? twilight? Is like a competition of who is more sexually ambiguous Barbara or poor Ol'Virgin Tim (Robin writers straight him up, Titans writers not so much ;) )
