Here's some MC2 fun of a couple that never quite came together.
Some assorted bits from A-Next #4, Avengers Next #1, 2, 3 and 5.
A-Next was a part of the MC2 line of comics that began with What if #105 aka Spider-girl #0. In this universe the original Avengers had vanished years ago until the current crew came together featuring Thunderstrike, Stinger (Cassandra Lang the second Antman's daughter aka Stature in 616), J2 the son of Cain Marko and Mainframe the Ironman stand-in. In issue 4 of A-Next the roster added some new members American Dream patterned after Captain America, Freebooter who was sort of the Hawkeye of the team having been trained by Hawkeye and Swordsman. Also included were the Maximoff based ladies of Bluestreak and Crimson Curse (though they're not related as Wanda and Pietro are). Bluestreak makes quite an impression early on.
The prior issue this Avengers team got into a skirmish with the Defenders and Zane/J2 ran away in fear at one point though he returned quickly after.
And yet...J2 never seemed to take a hint that Bluestreak had a crush on him.
Here's some of Blue and Zane hanging out playing videogames in Avengers Next #1.
Man Zane's beating her score like heck, granted I think she's letting him win. I mean she is a speedster she'd probably be able to snipe him without any real effort.
Alas J2 as I've said was completely oblivious that Blue liked him.
See here a page from issue #3 of Avengers Next as J2 and Thena daughter of Thor trade some words.
Pffft.
In issue #5 J2 helps save Thena's life in battle at one point and it seems the two became slightly more friendly to one another.
Bluestreak sulking at the speed of light.
And just how thickheaded is Zane?
Avengers Next #2 gives us the answer (this is when the team first encounters Thena).
(Well it's not actually Mjolnir but that page never fails to get me chuckling).
And since with MC2 having ended some time ago and the likelihood of J2 and Blue ever actually becoming a couple vanished I asked DA artist Gaff1229 to draw a cute strip of the two together playing off his hardheadedness.
I think Blue's gonna have to do some Silver Age Superman level stuff one day to have to get this boy's attention.
