Catwoman #6

I didn't think it was possible for this book to get anymore problematic, but I stand corrected.

WARNING: for graphic eroticised violence.

4 pages speak for themselves

And then the inevitable confrontation with the Dark Knight himself.

..............

Dear Winick,

Helena Wayne called. And right now she's feeling like unleashing her own personal brand of justice after the way you've shat on both her mum and dad by writing rubbish such as this. And "rubbish" is being *very* polite. This. THIS is just not "sexy" at all.

I'm still trying to figure what Selina is doing after the ear biting. She's like springing back on her finger tips...but her feet are tucked in really awkwardly? She's going to land on the side of her feet/ankles? That seems like a bad idea. IDEK

Also - wow that last panel - badly written Death Wish AND tears. What...who is this? This can't be Catwoman.

I say Misfit, who has the real Selina stashed in a closet somewhere, and is now impersonating her to live out her fantasies of banging Batman (canon).

I wish there was a like button for this sort of thing.

I'd assumed that she was in the middle of springing back using the heels and palms of her hands, but extended her fingers while in midair. And that she was either going to bring her feet out and around to land on her knees and the balls of her feet, or she was going to tuck her head and roll backward, using her now-extended hands to guide her, until she was further away in a crouching position. Yes, I thought about it. No, I didn't try to do it - don't have the upper body strength to start the move, don't have the gymnastics training to attempt the rest without a spotter and a lot of mats at the very least (plain backwards roll or simple basic vault? sure, done both a reasonable number of times without problems, could do either again. that particular combination? hell no, I'd probably break something. scratch that, I'd definitely injure something, and I don't mean my pride.). If she tries to land in that position, on the sides of her feet/ankles? Selina is probably going to break some bones, or at least sprain something really bad.

100% agreed on the last panel. The only good thing I have to say about that entire last page is that I like Selina's lipstick. Then again, I think I have one about two shades lighter than that, so I may be biased.

Enh - fair enough argument on the pose. It just looks awkward - like the wrong moment of that action to draw. But that's my nitpick.

Her lipstick DOES look pretty fabulous. That colorist deserves some kudos for that.

Gah... I finally realized why her feet got into that position to start with. That's basically the angle you have to bend them at to get handcuffs from behind you to in front of you, unless they are on too loose or something. My reasoning on what else she was doing immediately after that panel in terms of movement still stands. I agree wholeheartedly that that was decidedly the wrong moment to draw if it was supposed to make any sense at all.

So... I think in this, the only compliments I have are for the colorist. Most of which have to do with Selina apparently having my taste in makeup. (Red lipstick is the best lipstick, in my opinion. Although tinted gloss is good, too.) It's nice how this actually looks like lipstick, and not like her lips are just randomly a shade not generally seen naturally with her skintone, which is what happens in far too much art.
