Personally, I really, really hate this series.
It's symptomatic of almost all DC and Marvel comics of late. The star of the book is unquestionably the protagonist, and the history of supporting characters simply doesn't matter weighed against the latest flavor of the month.
I mean, Joseph is treated as a mere plot devise, from Astra to the God damn narrative. Cyke knew Joe personally, as did a number of X-Men. Joe gave his life to fix up Magneto's screw up. And frankly, he was a pretty well developed character.
And we see absolutely none of that in this mini. I know Joe acting out of character can be justified by his brainwashing, but the indifference of everyone else? Less so.
