When The Flame's popularity began to fade a attempt was made to refresh the Big 3 member with partner in Wonderworld #30 (Oct. 1941). Writer Basil Berold is actually Lou Fine. Fine took over all the work on the The Flame after Will Eisner left.

Flame Girl has one of the most overly dramatic introduction ads I have ever seen. I looked for the issue because of the ad. You can see it here or under the cut.

Is that not awesome? This is how you sell comics.

(This May have been scanned by "narfstar" Whoever did them, did an excellent job.)

Flame Girl it would seem didn't do much to help the Flame. He was replaced a the cover by US Jones by #32. She continued to show up until Wonderworld #33 when the magazine folded.
She pops up in Dynamite Enterainmant's Project Superpowers. I don't know of her showing up in anything else, and Google returns little.

Yay Lue Fine tag!

I hope The Flame came across as less of a thick jackass in other appearances.

....they get power from a elixir... a DRUG... to get their powers, which comes out in a form of fire and great human abilities.... that's sounds... familiar... something from 90s DC comics... something that's been made awesome on AT4W...

Does this character still belong to anyone?

No...thus the use in Project Superpowers, which used nothing but characters who'd fallen into the public domain. Including the original Blue Beetle, who, apparently, was a separate enough entity from the version created by Carlton to not be caught up by Carlton, and then DC - although Dynamite couldn't, of course, use the name Blue Beetle (IIRC, they simply called him Scarab).

Actually, they refer to him as "Big Blue"

...He forgot he had a magical medicine?

Either he hit his head really hard, or he was the dumbest superhero ever.

Oh yes. Fox Features Syndicate had some truly cracky moments back in the day. I should get around to posting that Jo-Jo, Cong King story where he fought Viking Surfers.

Very strange to have such a dramatic death/passing-of-the-torch scene, and then undo it on the very next page. I wonder if they were at least toying with the idea of having Linda take over completely, only to chicken out along the way?
