Somebody's back to meet the new Spider-Man...

After talking with his parents about Spider-Man (Miles' mother for; his father against), Miles is called away from wall-crawling practice:

Soon after, Miles and Ganke run into Uncle Aaron/The Prowler, who has put two and two together to find out who Spider-Man is. To be continued next issue!

Bonus! Here's the scene Omega Red was recalling, from Ultimate Spider-Man #87, starring the late Peter Parker:

Your wit was too beautiful for this world, Peter.

"Venom Blast Punch Thing" is the best quote in this entire issue, its so random.

At first I thought it was a speak-baloon; it was even funnier, him shouting it.

Miles remains one of the most adorable characters to come out of Marvel. I've been loving every issue.

I think I love this kid.

This is Bendis, right? I can't STAND Bendis's writing, I can't believe I love this so much. I think I am gonna have to start purchasing it before the series gets too far in.

Bendis is really, really good in a really, really narrow range.

Truth. Give him a snarky teenager or an exasperated bromance, and he's goldfingers.

I'd argue he's good at pretty much anything other than a big team book. Which is unfortunately what most of his time's dedicated to these days. Everything else I've read of his is great.

Bendis can be infuriating at times, but his Ultimate Spiderman has been some of the very best work he has ever done. I think he realizes this and doubles-down on it. It's odd that I don't think he does nearly as good a job with 616 Spidey, but his Ultimate work is really, really great.

I don't think it helps that Bendis writes regular Spider-Man in exactly the same fashion as Ultimate Spider-Man. With the quips and the snarking and all, that doesn't help the current vibe of the 616 version being a crazed man-child who'd sacrifice his marriage for an old woman who declared her time was up.

Bendis' 616 Spider-Man is good in small doses. The problem is that he so often lacks depth to ground the snark and wacky hijinks in.
Still, Bendis is responsible for the one page where Spider-Man beats the crap out of Iron Patriot, one of my favorite Spidey moments.

Great scene, but I have to wonder why use Omega Red, since in combat he is essentially Doctor Octopus minus a pair of arms.

eh, he's a throwaway villain whom Miles can test himself on, tough enough to put up a fight, not memorable to be anything, well, memorable.

Besides, Doc Ock is dead in this universe, making it slightly more difficult for him to come back.

In Ult, he's a nice mid-range spider villain. Not the big threat of Oct or Goblin, but not as lame as Ult Kraven either.

Hmmm.. I'm looking forward to the Miles vs Kraven match ^^

Didn't Kraven get made a little more hardcore with the Ultimate Six mini? I know Pete took him out with one punch, the first time..

He got some genetic boosts which is why he's on the team, but he's still the loser of the Six.
