Wait, in vampire myth (according to Ghostbusters): They can't cross running water... so how can they be pirates?

Ah. But the boat is, they are simply on the boat! I figure that despite their other worldy abilities they simply cannot cross water themselves without some form of help.

My understanding is that they instantly sink into the water and cannot swim out. As such, they're fine if they stay on a boat, or a plane over the water, or whatever.

Vampires have their own specific rules about boat travel which supersede that one, they can only board or disembark during the ebb or flow of the tide. Once they are on board they're fine unless they drop into the drink and there happens to be a current.
