I always seen Jhon Henry as the Afroamerican hero by exelence, and he was the only supermen that was simply human. Also he was a cool black hero in the tradition of Black Lightining (People still think that name is "racist" but of course they dont remember the Black Panther Party, It wasnt the Panther Party but the BLACK panther party).

But yeah I see what Priest did there, even if the Hamer and the named screamed the resemblance Irons always was more like Tony Stark. And the age of "black heroes" had passed away in the 70 and probably didnt want his character be so involved in the tradition of a tipical afroamerican symbol like Jhon Henry.
