Okay, if the title alone didn't make you at least want to check the graphic novel out, then I pity your poor atrophied little souls....

Aliens are invading prehistoric Earth, and Barry Sonnenfeld and Grant Morrison are teaming up with Mukesh Singh and Liquid Studios to stop them... with Dinosaurs.

I'll be the first to say that is a damned good looking Dinosaur but I can't help but feel not too excited about this. There are far too many books out there with the mentality that "one cool thing plus another cool thing equals one really cool thing". More often than not it doesn't work out as planned.

People just crave their little dose of awesome; story, characterisation, logic, dialogue get in the way more often than not.

Normally, I'd agree whole-heartedly, but I feel it must be said -- you most assuredly do not have to be a stoner to think that dinosaurs, aliens and dinosaurs fighting aliens are awesome.

At a guess, the same way we developed spears, except lacking grasping hands, they developed the concept of an artificial tusk to enhance viciousness (Of course, how you tie them in place without the hands is a whole nother question)

How hard is it to check a bloody skeleton before you draw a dinosaur? (Raptor looks good, though. Feathers!)

This is very pretty in a big, loud action movie sort of way, but I don't trust Morrison's writing enough to drop money on it. I'll stick with Age of Reptiles.

Or they take a couple of specimens back to their ship, who proceed to escape and run wild, blowing the ship up in the process and it is last seen crashing down into the Earth! :)
