Preview of "Dinosaurs Vs Aliens"

Okay, if the title alone didn't make you at least want to check the graphic novel out, then I pity your poor atrophied little souls....

Aliens are invading prehistoric Earth, and Barry Sonnenfeld and Grant Morrison are teaming up with Mukesh Singh and Liquid Studios to stop them... with Dinosaurs.

Newsarama have a few pages, and some design sketches, up here.

Mr Rex will deal with your complaint once he's finished with his current customer....

Now that is one COOL looking dinosaur, no?

I'll be the first to say that is a damned good looking Dinosaur but I can't help but feel not too excited about this. There are far too many books out there with the mentality that "one cool thing plus another cool thing equals one really cool thing". More often than not it doesn't work out as planned.

People just crave their little dose of awesome; story, characterisation, logic, dialogue get in the way more often than not.

Yeah. This sorta thing always makes me think of an executive going "finally, the perfect way to empty the wallets of stoners!"

Normally, I'd agree whole-heartedly, but I feel it must be said -- you most assuredly do not have to be a stoner to think that dinosaurs, aliens and dinosaurs fighting aliens are awesome.

Case in point.

Is this a sequel (prequel) to Cowboys vs. Aliens?

Or maybe Monsters vs. Aliens?

That's just begging for a boxed set isn't it?

Can we just strap Mukesh Singh and force him to draw dinosaurs forever?

Hands are wrong. Hands are wrong. Hands are wrong.

How hard is it to check a bloody skeleton before you draw a dinosaur? (Raptor looks good, though. Feathers!)

This is very pretty in a big, loud action movie sort of way, but I don't trust Morrison's writing enough to drop money on it. I'll stick with Age of Reptiles.

Bah, it'll never be as cool as T-rexes in F-14s.

Well, yes, but then NOTHING WOULD BE.

So, how much you wanna bet this series ends with the last few aliens deciding on an orbital drop?
