Meanwhile, Tailgate and Swerve are out for a stroll...



The two, along with a few other 'bots, stumble onto Skids dispatching the last of his pursuers.

You mean Skids? There's clearly SOMETHING majorly important about him ('Don't let them take Skids' from the mysterious warning the group never got, the whole bit of his introduction), but he's wearing an Autobot insignia, so he was an Autobot, either before the war or during, and the Autobots didn't exist when the original Knights left (and the second group of Knights - the ones Drift met in New Crystal City - would never wear an Autobot or Decepticon insignia, being opposed to both factions). If he IS one of the Knights, they've got more information on what's been going on on Cybertron than you'd expect from a group who've been gone long enough to have become a mostly disbelieved legend, and are pulling one hell of a strange con, if they have one disguised as an Autobot.

I know next to nothing about Transformers but checking the scans of this series and RiD has been a great introduction.Loving the eclectic cast of characters (never knew that TF's were so diverse in characterization). I think I might have to pick these up in trades.

The comics have always been better than other media for that. IDW, being mostly free from To Sell Toys, and delighting as they do in grabbing obscure characters from many, many different TF media and toylines do an even better job with it. (ie: No worries about annoying someone for varying from the established characterization when you're using a character who doesn't have one. Not that they have a problem changing the characters' characterizations, either, but...)

Against all better judgement, I'm really finding myself wanting to pick these up. The writing and art is just so FUN and this evokes G1 Transformers better than...well, better than G1 Transformers itself actually did. :)
