Yeah, but I've always read Emma as a person more than willing to go for the low-blow remarks. Tempered, somewhat-nice Emma is a more recent thing since her getting together with Scott (her Gen X persona notwithstanding). These days, I almost see it as a way she ferrets out people with impulsive reactions, kinda like how Tyrion Lannister said, "never forget what you are [...] use it as armor and it can never be used to hurt you."
