Wonder Woman #07 rotting spoilers

I've touched on the Batman spoilers today, but they start off with the revelations about Diana and her people. It's a new low for DCnU.
It's a doozy and may not sit well with most of you. Heck, the new S_D protocols may even be triggered.

Shouldn't we have a tag for "everything you thought you knew was wrong."?

I guess Donna is going to have a say about this other brother, and I am not too fond of this darker, seedy Paradise Island. It honestly sounds like a brothel/labor camp of the gods than an ideal community led by women, made of women, for the women.

Excuse me for the term, but Amazons now rape to produce offsprings???
Can't we get back to Perez's version of the Amazons now, thank you very much?....

AFAIK the sex is consensual. It's the 'kill you and toss your corpse overboard' part that's not. Therefore it's mostly murder, not rape. Though they don't say what happens to unwilling men, but that's probably because the book is probably going with the stupid old 'all men want sex ALL THE TIME' idea.

it's a technicality, that I'm not sure would be accepted it genders were reverse(and I'm not sure how accepting of the idea most people are here anyway)

If the sex were propely informed, "Here's the deal, we have sex, then I kill you, then there's a 50% chance I kill our kid. Or you can try to fight me off and I'll just kill you," I think some of the men would try to fight. Plenty of men in the past have chosen hopeless battles, so just assuming they'd be okay with it as long as their last moment were pleasant is very presumptive.

Oh, I'm not saying that it isn't a crime or evil, I'm just saying that (assuming they don't force any unwilling men) it isn't rape. Non-consensual killing isn't rape, it's murder. If the genders were reversed, e.g. man had consensual sex with a woman and then killed her afterwards, I'm pretty sure that would also be murder and not rape.

If they did inform the men of their intent to kill, that's probably when rape would happen, since the amazons are unlikly to just kill them and move on if they all say no.

It's a generally unpleasent idea no matter what angle you look at it from, really.

I' pretty sure it wouldn't be consensual each time if you think about it.

It was probably easier to find soldiers/warriors willing to do so in the old ages...but each time having sex consensual?

flash forward to the 2000s. Imagine some adventurer on his boat going on a trip 'round the world for a cause...who happens to pass by Paradise Island, the Amazons catch him, "use" him as well, kill him and (a) keep a baby girl (b) get "rid" of a baby boy.
Or some fisher men who got lost at sea...
Etc..

True enough. I was just assuming the writer didn't put that much thought into it because of the whole 'it must seem ike a dream' line.
