The Lights show up already Kenji-less in UXM #9, also released this Wednesday:

Uncanny X-Men #9's (which deserves your money imho tbh) creators are Kieron Gillen & Carlos Pacheco.

	Complete agreement there. Especially for a team that is (or at least in some incarnation was) supposed to be about "protecting those that are feared & hated b/c they're different-looking." Kinda misses any pro-transhuman points the writers might try to be making if they keep adhering to the "beauty = good and ugly/different = evil" trope. (Reply to this) (Thread from start) (Parent)

	The art is really pretty, I particularly like the panel with Hope holding Martha's brain, but I wish none of this had happened. it kind of ended with this issue? if she turns out to be the phoenix host and goes dark phoenix, that will be a separate thing altogether, because this issue pretty much "clears" the whole mind controling the lights thing. she apologized and that was that.

not a very satisfying conclusion imo, but what can you do.

	Hope must have some sort of, "Yes, I'm controlling them, but hey, they'd all be dead if it wasn't for me, so it balances out" justification going on. she does tell them at the end of the issue. and apologizes. and nope, they're not upset. gabriel is the one who brings up the whole thing about how they'd all be dead if not for hope, actually. then they praise her and talk about what a good "chip" she is.

i can't post the scans, but 'twas odd, yea.

say what you will,, but I liked Hope's confession at the end and actual open honesty with Both Kenji and the rest of the team.

the reasons she gave were all the reasons i suspected she was doing the things she was doing. People forget that for all intents and purposes, she is still a KID, and kid whose father's death is still fresh in her mind. the thought of losing anyone else around her terrified her. it doesn't justify it, but it does explain it. and the fact that she IS being honest with them now AND is (Hopfully) Willing to take advice and criticism from others is a good thing.
