Yeah, this is probably my favorite take on the Titans in a long while. Right up there with Wolfman/Perez, IMO.

Way to Jackie Estacado, Mr. Templar.

(And if he's not coming back from that, that's an amusing way to deal with another title's imposing fellow.. even if the same person's writing the both of them.)

Well, what Cassie does on Templar wouldn't work on Jackie, if I got it right--stuff like his creepy tentacles and his darklings come from him, but they're not HIM, if that makes sense.

yeah, TIm doesn't need to be darker than Batman to start. Frankly Solstice should have made him either regret not saving her sooner or regret saving her at all. He's not turning them in to anyone so building a case is pointless

And if Cassie doens't want to be called Wondergirl then she needs to damn well name herself, and she has to be an idiot not to realize that.

It kind of makes me wonder how long the creative heads of the DCnU sat down to plan all this out.

Because as more information comes in, its looking more and more like "Not as long as they should have."

I don't agree. From what little I've seen of Tim, this is just setting the posts for character development and softening him up. He should be apologizing, but he's too hard-headed to do so at present.

Tim's had a lot of internal struggles with becoming too much like Batman. If the series continues, this is a good way of getting him to lighten up, assuming the writer's competent enough to convey that.

Wouldn't the testimony of dozens of rescued teenagers and the data retrieved from a ruined base be a pretty good way to build a case?

Mmmyep..

Also, did Tim kill Solstice in that last panel or something? I see him holding a batarang behind his back and then he's walking away while she holds her chest...

Yeah, the batarang surprised me, but I think that it was supposed to be that he was prepared to use it on Solstice if she interfered with his mission (Which is bad enough all by itself), she didn't, so he just left her. The art could be clearer to be sure.

Man, I want to like this run on the Titans, I really do, but something just feels so off about it to me. Maybe it's the new character dynamics, maybe it's the art, maybe it's Cassie's stupid "don't call me Wonder Girl!" thing. (I get it, it's an homage to Kon's 'don't call me Superboy' thing. It made sense with him It really doesn't with her. Are bracelets enough to associate her with Wonder Woman enough for people to call her Wonder Girl?)

The dialogue is overwritten/exposition-y and the art is hideous. I like the new character though.

This book is really bad, but I'm not willing to stop reading it simply because it's the Titans. A pretty awful situation all around.

SO GODDAMN UGLY JESUS CHRIST

All I really have to add here- other than asking... someone else mentioned it, but the art is blinding. Did Robin just kill her or smack her with a batarang or something? Or was it the computer? If it was the computer, why would he do that? Why does the art not convey ANY OF THIS AT ALL? I didn't even see it until it was pointed out.

I assume he destroyed the computer so that A) his tampering can't be traced and B) that the base is now minus it's computer system which could be used against them and possibly C) Destroying N.O.W.H.E.R.E.'s archives.

The art is a little... inexpressive (or expresses things oddly) and the colouring does it few favours.

Oddly, manipulative Tim wasn't the part that took me out of it, though I want to see some of the charm and upbeatness that a Robin should have, otherwise why ARE these disparate personalities following him other than "the plot says we should".

What got me was Danny... Danny, to me, is a piece of sentient architecture, it's a wonderfully simple bit of comic book madness that fit right in with the weirdness of the Doom Patrol. He's been around, one imagines, for ages (Certainly the Doom Patrol version had been). To have him suddenly retconned into a teenage HUMAN turned architecture helping the Teen Titans just... doesn't work for me.

Taking the whimsy out of their characters/concepts has been the most annoying consistency of NuDC. Everything from turning Capt. Cold to Iceman to armoring up Superman; its all reeked of dumbing down, pandering to what DC thinks the general populace would accept, and lessening the suspension of belief.....its downright insulting to the existing readership before Flashpoint.
