Sigh. This disappoints me more than I am able to express. So I will settle for: this got me wishing Kara had been a supporting cast member on Helena's book instead. At least Levitz gets her character. Kara never *once* felt like she was ever in character in all of her minor appearances in this book.

On the bright side though, at least Michael Holt is in somewhat better hands with James Robinson. (Provided of course he doesn't go all Cry for Justice on Earth-2 given current tone and premise).

heh it really does seem like we have a jekyll and hyde with him. either he is REALLY REALLY GOOD... or... REALLY REALLY BAD!.... i am hoping for the former.

alsoa bout the series... i feel bad for the writer... i met him at comic con and he seemed genuinely nice and excited about the book (even got a "sketch" of mr T...) but this series has been beyind lack luster....

That makes sense though, as she was never being herself. She was being Karen Starr, in order to gain access to Terry's quantum tunnelling data, everything else, presumably, was secondary.

Basically she was under deep cover the whole time.

yeah, i agree. but regardless, this was a very lack luster book. it had great potential, corporate intruige, tech villains... but the villains seemed like jokes and the story was just not that interesting...

Oh I'm sure it was, what I saw didn't engage me that much, I was only commenting on Kara's OOC-ness.

See I would feel more inclined to believe this more if (a) the writing was better, and (b) Karen Starr had regular appearances in the book

From what we saw of her throughout the book, it did feel as though Wallace was trying to capture the character's personality--namely in the first issue--but just didn't do a good job at doing that. :/

Looking at it, it's not THAT much, it just feels endless.

Agreed. The effect is like one of those singers who try to copy Mariah Carey: instead of just hitting the single right note, they bury it under loads and loads of notes that are in the same general area to disguise their uncertainty. "But I must be a real singer, listen how MANY notes I can hit!" You could cut at least half the words there and the same amount of info would be conveyed.

As a physics student, I found the first narration box unintentionally funny. The solution to the Quantum Tunneling Problem is a Quantum Formula? Well, no shit. Like saying he discovered that the solution to an Algebra problem is an Algebra formula.

Maybe I'm wrong but the ending of Michael going to Earth-2 (where he should have originated all from the beginning IMO) was probably not DC's original intent. Its as if someone at DC decided (maybe when they decided to cancel the series) that the only way to save the Mr. Terrific character was to basically reboot him on Earth-2.

Powergirl's entire role in this series (all 4-5 panels of it) was also a huge question mark. What exactly was DC trying to do there? Wallace made no attempt to make her a 3-Dimensional character nor did she seems to have a role in the title except as a wink/wink to the readers that knew who "Karen Starr" was supposed to be.

Ahem. Anyway, my current theory is that DC bought McFarlane's non-litigated "Spawn" rights, is going to put him on Earth-2, and Mr. Terrific becomes the nu52 Violator.
