Giant Galactic Deathbird + Potentially Unstable Teenager Who Was Raised to Be a Messiah = WHY WOULD WE WANT THIS!?
The moment she gets the phoenix force, all that's saving earth from a fiery hellgrave is a Deus Ex Machina and her (shown to be rather lacking) mercy. That is not a chance I would want to take. I would kill her for that what if, but I certainly wouldn't just let it happen.

lol yeah i figured. but yeah.... the point is, no one is thinking here... they are all only reacting...

and truth be told NO ONE knows what the phoenix is... the only ones that do are Jean (dead) and Rachel (who EVERYONE seems to be ignoring....)

They know it's ludicrously powerful, even in the MU and they know it's killed several planets and the alien life on them.
Cosmic order is one thing, but that is not anything I want near my planet.
I'm not saying they're going about this with anything resembling sense, but not letting the Great Galactic Deathbird (that's my official name for it now) near the place where all the squishy mortals live seems like a good idea to me.

The Avengers include plenty of folks who've worked with (and still work with, in two cases) Rachel when she possessed the Phoenix Force, so they know lots more than that. Captain Britain, on the Secret Avengers space team, should be seriously questioning the wisdom of going off into space to attack the thing in this way without bringing his former teammate Rachel in on the gig. After all, he was witness to her saving the entire Omniverse using that power.

I think everyone is spooked with the Phoenix (and rightly so) because it recently has been destructive without an apparent reason. At least not one to us and the rest of Earth. Plus even though they have seen the Phoenix do so much good, some have witness first hand the dark side of it when it is unstable. Hope is inexperienced and can so easily go Dark without intentionally doing it. Add that with the Phoenix's odd behavior and the Avengers have a good reason to be worried. Surprised that alot of the X-Men are not a little bit worried.

Still it annoys me how they are ignoring the good personal past of the Phoenix and are just focusing on the few times it has gone rogue.

The Giant Galactic Deathbird is plenty destructive on its own right now, and there's no evidence that killing Rachel will keep it from continuing its path. Seems more likely to just tick it off even more, honestly. Conversely, compare Hope's upbringing to Rachel's - there's a whole lot less trauma there, and at least as much mental discipline and training. If Rachel was a good host able to moderate the PF's behavior, I would expect Hope to do as well or better.

Less traumatic maybe (though I imagine being on the run through space and time can't be sunshine and lollipops all the time), but worse for us. Rachel's past meant she had a healthy fear for power, as opposed to Little Miss Messiah Complex. Plus, I'm pretty sure the Phoenix just sort of picked Rachel before anyone could do anything about it and it turned out she could handle it most of the time. Now they have a chance to play it safe.
