Avengers Academy versus New X-Men

The Avengers land on Avengers Academy, bringing the X-Men students recruits (along with the X-Club and Sebastian Shaw) with them for safe keeping while everyone tries to find Hope. There is much awkwardness on the topic of how to deal with them. Laura isn't very happy with the position Logan put her in.

Very nice issue overall. Looking forward to its development. Gage seems to be at his best in events tie in it seems, last time I enjoyed this title as much was during Fear, Itself.

Mettle said he couldn't surf anymore (because of his body metamorphosis) and was quite sad of it, that's why Loa used her power to allow him to "earth-suffer". Hazmat was grateful.

Small detail that bugs me;

Why do people keep forgetting that "Runaways" is NOT the name of the team? It was the name of the comic, the kids never came up with a team name for themselves, for the same reason they scorned costumes and code names (after the first arc, anyway).

Also, Karolina dating someone else doesn't sit well with me, mostly because of the way Xavin was written out.

They're now the Runaways the same way that Rorschach and Co. are now "the Watchmen". It's easier for the reader to identify the reference that way, as opposed to just refering to her by her name, which would be an issue as sometimes they have multiple versions of the same person running around.

Like when Wolverine's son went around calling himself Wolverine for a while.

Who wrote this? Because the writer cannot write Laura for shit.

Laura knows what friends are. Liu did so much development with Laura and this seems to be completely ignoring all of that.

That is correct up to a point. Laura knows more about herself and the world thanks to Liu, but that doesn't mean Laura (or anyone else) wouldn't have a hard time figuring out what to do in this complex situation.

Why do I get the impression that, despite both sides coming to an amiable truce, Cyclops is going to either come in person or send someone to guilty the X-Men related characters into joining up to serve with him?

He does have someone spying on Logan's school, on the basis that they're "turncoats" for not wanting to die for his cause before they're allowed to get a driver's license.

Calling Logan's side "turncoats" may have more to do with them backing the Avengers attack of Utopia than the initial split. He never seemed that contemptuous right after the initial split, but i can see how the escalation would cause anger.

Oh, things are obviously going to come to blows, but I don't think we need Cyclops for that. You have a bunch of teens feeling uneasy about how adults are handling things, some other kids pissed off about the situation, and Sebastian Shaw for that.

So, they finish a crossover with the Runaways to do a crossover with the X-kids (Utopia branch). I wonder if they'll follow this up with a crossover with the Young Avengers or the X-kids (Jean Grey School branch). Or maybe the Future Foundation.

I've seen an interview where they mention an upcoming crossover with a teen team after AvsX is over.

They discussed Herc's nudity for two pages and then moved on to Transonic appearing just as nude. Is it OK to be nude if you're blue or is she wearing something and I missed it?
And is Transonic suppose to know who the Runaways are? By any name?
It might have meant something if Julie would have told Loa, Dust or Surge. I think they are the only ones there from the X-men to have met The Runaways. (back in Runaways V3 10 - manifest destiny tie in)

I've no idea if Laurie knows about the Runaway, but any super team that is around has at least some sort of fame, so perhaps she has heard of them like this (and from the other X-kids).
