Seriously...some people were happy to be rid of their mutations. But no, he wants what he wants and screw the rest.

... why is it any fairer to screw the people who want to be repowered and for which it was a tragedy to lose their power than it is to screw the people who do not want to be repowered and who were relieved to lose their powers?

My opinion is because it's a unilateral decision made by Scott and his crew for an entire people. If the individual gets to choose, then it's fine, but if they're forced into it, then how is it any better then Wanda saying...No more mutants, and poof, they're powers are gone?
In the end this storyline feels pretty weak either way, i think allowing new mutants to be born into the world naturally would've worked better.

but Scott comes from a place of fixing the unilateral decision made by Wanda. I mean, yeah, ideally everyone should have to make the choice, but if not possible, reverting a change that affecting a lot of people in a dramatic way seems a bit better to me than just leaving the situation as it was.

Not sure that's very viable in a medium/genre where time passes as slowly as it does in the Marvel universe.

Because being a mutant generally sucks, as aside from physical and power issues, they're hated by most of humanity which is why Cyke left out the whole 'we're risking the safety of the planet to make more muties' part in the letter.

TBF, I don't think Scott actually wants people who had detrimental mutations to have them back. He just wants more mutant births. Though that itself has some unfortunate implications -- would Scott love his kids less if they were born non-mutants?

I wish Sage/Tessa were still around and someone could ask her "Given the average mortality rate of mutants over the past 15 years, what is the ratio of depowered mutants who would likely be alive and healthy at this point had they retained their powers compared to the number of former mutants who are actually still alive and healthy?"

I suspect the latter number is significantly higher than the former.
