They hired Vilgax from "Ben 10" to ice Kyle?

I liked the interactions between Kyle and Jaime here.

Jaime and Kyle together = cool.

The 'Jaime's own family thinks BB is a baddie' = not so much.

well they kinda did the first time around too,, only then the suit let him alk to them.

Yeah, one of the really awesome things about his original run was that his family knew everything.

[personal profile] darkknightjrk 2012-05-16 21:04 (UTC)(link)
While the interaction between Jaime and Kyle were great, I loved the little "moment" Jaime and Bleez shared more. :D

"Damn it, bug-suit, I am not aroused!"

I thought that was rather a cheap shot to be honest, and I'm not sure if his explanation that the bugsuit manifested "bits" made it any less so.

I seriously wasn't expecting it to turn out that way. I say, arousal is a strange way to disarm an intergalactic power being.

Ok, I WTF'ed ba-ha-ha'd.

Still gonna reread Shellshocked, brb

I'm sure many won't share my opinion, but I actually liked this. Wasn't blown away, but I was surprisingly pleased. I was also expecting the whole issue to be a Lanterns vs Beetle fight; I am glad it was not.
I'm also not sure how to describe how it sounded in my head, but Khaji Da's ''relevance?'' made me snap my fingers and say ''oh no, you DEE-N'T take that tone!''

Regarding next month's issue: I don't have the highest of expectations for #10, since it seems it'll go back to being persecuted on the streets of New York, but at least #9 was enjoyable.

yeah the book is definately taking a turn for the better. he's hoping the suit gets less killy faster.

[personal profile] jlbarnett 2012-05-16 23:16 (UTC)(link)
it was better than it has been. But there's limits to how bad they can claim the Scarab is or how little control Jaime should have, because Jaime should be the type to fall on the grenade.

By all means DC, let's NOT forget to bring the concept of fridging into the New52. It's just one of those essential and not at all hated things that fans repeatedly want to see.

And don't forget to put Kyle's smiling face next to it...

Aaaaaaargh!

Except Kyle's not smiling at all in that shot and, in all fairness, the murder happened quite some time ago, it's healthier that he's not dissolving into wracking sobs at the very thought of it.

It's not something he should ever make light of certainly, it was a monstrous event in his life, but it's something that happened in the past and he has moved away from (if not entirely got over)

Way to focus in the negative, I went to WTF, the most fail WiR ever.

Maybe we are wrong and Kyle is remembering the time when the SAW movie doll killed his dog, cut It in pieces and puted It on the fridge, and Kyle is smiling cause as a unemployed artist he didnt have money to aford dog food so the little doll made him a favour..

PD: Yeah Im a cat person.
majingojira: (WTF Guyver)

[personal profile] majingojira 2012-05-17 01:07 (UTC)(link)
This was an improvement, but the damage done in my opinion is irrevocable. We're still stuck in "Second Rate Guyver clone without the cathartic moments of the original, with aspirations of being a second rate Spider-man clone" mode.

We see tiny hints of the glory that once was, but the overall farrago is still in place. Hell, it continues to the horrific Countdown Trend I've seen in the entire Nu52 where eveything advertizes everything else.

[personal profile] md84 2012-05-17 01:56 (UTC)(link)
Even the Guyver wasn't this hard to handle. It didn't really have a mind of its own beyond "user preservation" being its top priority. Ironically, this actually made the Guyver do something way worse than anything the Scarab has done so far in this new series.

IMO cross-pollenization is a good thing in comics, but the visitors should be there to be part of the home team's story, not have their own story stop by another book.

Ya know, it's funny. This has been the most un-sutble version of the Scarab we've yet seen.

And it's STILL called an "Reach INFILTRATOR"

Apparently, for the Reach, "Infiltrator" means "Berserker war monster" rather than, ya know "to enter or become established in gradually or unobtrusively usually for subversive purposes"

Unless they're just referring to how the scarab bonds with a host, in which case it's just silly. Like calling a shirt a "put on".

[personal profile] md84 2012-05-17 05:42 (UTC)(link)
Maybe the Scarab is supposed to be subtle, but the damage it sustained (the only reason Jaime can exert any control over it at all) makes it a violent engine of destruction.

But that would require foresight, hindsight and an use of history--the later is especially anathema in the DCnU.

Hey, that's funny. Way back when, Kyle went on a Hero Quest where he sought out established heroes to train him when he was new. Now he's an established hero and a new hero is coming to him for advice. Goes full circle.
