I've been giving this book a good amount of crap, but I have to admit this was kinda funny. :D

That takes some serious cowardice for only the sight of military equipment to betray your country and it's secrets, or an complete idiot not being able to recognize your own uniforms.

In fairness, he had just been tossed out of plane and dropped into an enemy country. Either of those would make me a bit hair trigger on the 'pleading for my life' front.

Besides, he hasn't actually betrayed any secrets, just establishes that he knows them.

ANOTHER "gathered around the table" scene?

Hickman's storytelling tics are starting to become tedious. And Feynman was far too cool to be treated so shabbily.

Why, Doc., isn't that an AMERICAN flag on the shoulder of the soldier?

Ha! I always found Feynman to be utterly tedious and full of himself, so I enjoy this little cheap shot.

Isn't Oppenheimer around 40 during WWII? He looks to be well over 60 here.

They decided to model his appearance in the book off of more well known more recent pictures.

So, in this universe Daghlian survived his accident, huh?

... In a manner of speaking, anyway.

Also...something that just struck me as interesting. Fermi and Daghlian are addressed formally - title and last name. Einstein and Oppenheimer a step back from that - just last name. But Feynman gets the first name treatment.

Wonder why that was...
