That takes some serious cowardice for only the sight of military equipment to betray your country and it's secrets, or an complete idiot not being able to recognize your own uniforms.

In fairness, he had just been tossed out of plane and dropped into an enemy country. Either of those would make me a bit hair trigger on the 'pleading for my life' front.

Besides, he hasn't actually betrayed any secrets, just establishes that he knows them.

Also...something that just struck me as interesting. Fermi and Daghlian are addressed formally - title and last name. Einstein and Oppenheimer a step back from that - just last name. But Feynman gets the first name treatment.
