BleedingCool.com is spreading the wildfire, as they drop the hint that someone iconic to DC is "born this way".
While I am not happy about how DCnU has changed things, this will be a pleasant surprise.
UPDATE: *This just in*
From the article:
“One of the major iconic DC characters will reveal that he is gay in a storyline in June”
That’s the comment DC’s Senior VP Publicity Courtney Simmons gave to ABC News from Burbank when asked for comment on the story we ran yesterday, that DC were to reintroduce a preexisting character into the New DCU, and changing their sexual orientation in the process. It caused quite the stir.
As for the other member of the Big Two:

Marvel is one solid step closer to a better world. (Yeah, you knew it was coming, but so what?)

Date: 2012-05-22 04:57 pm (UTC)It's probably going to be a minority character, so they can get credit for super diversity. (Like how Batwoman is a jewish lesbian or Renee Montoya is a hispanic lesbian or Bunker is gay and latino. Or Extraño or Voodoo.)
It's probably going to a legacy character and not the original, so they can still use the original in other media, but claim that the character is iconic. (Like the gay Starman or, again, the Renee Montoya Question.)
I'm putting my money on Ryan Choi, the All New Atom. The Atom is B list, but big enough to count as "major" and by having it be Ryan Choi they won't upset the legions of Ray Palmer fans who are apparently out there. Plus, gay and asian? He's a diversity double whammy!
I'd be excited about this if it wasn't coming off so gimmicky.
(I'm aware how cynical this post is.)
