I'm sure I'll be hearing all about this series. My boyfriend is obsessed with the Ame-Comi figures. I think we have, god, like 15 in the apartment. All because I bought him Jade for Christmas one year.

A bit to violent for my taste, but I like her. I mean I actually like this Wonder Woman as a person not just as a concept. In a few pages they even managed to rectify her message of peace and her position as an ambassador with her love and proficiency for violence.

To me this is just one more time DC has published a story which has good writing, good art, and an interesting lead character...who is not actually Wonder Woman. I don't mean this in a continuity obsessed way, but I keep feeling like the creators are saying "Wonder Woman doesn't work anymore, but we can make her work by making her NOT Wonder Woman but making her Xena crossed with Big Barda and putting her in a Wonder Woman costume!"

(N.B.: I'm a big fan of Barda, so that's not meant as a putdown.)

DC apparently just wants to do a "woman warrior" comic, and that's cool, but Diana wasn't meant to be Red Sonja. Writers and artists somehow keep finding their way back to the core strengths of Superman and Batman -- sometimes after bizarre detours away from that -- but they keep trying to make WW something else.

This is an Elseworlds anyway, so.. Yeah. The different characterisation is arguably the point here. It's about doing things with her that you wouldn't in the main books.

I dont really follow Wonder Woman but this seems pretty good, is it part of her main story line or a 6 issue short or something? Also, i thought Wonder Woman was wearing pants and a jean jacket now? did they give her her old clothes back already?

This follows DC's designs for the Ame-Comi line of statuettes, so they're not based on the DCnU design. It's not part of her main story, it's a different universe entirely. They'll be doing three short segments to make up the equivalent of one whole comic, and then moving to another character, I believe.

Also, funny - she IS in envoy of peace here whose first action upon landing upon American soil isn't to act like a cretin and act like ice cream is utterly alien and weird - She's fended off non-American intruders on her island and gone to meet the President in the role her mother assigned her.

You know, seeing "Ame-Comi" and knowing how ridiculous some of those statues can get, I'm actually surprised and a little relieved by the lack of anime-ish influence.

It's pretty cool that they're coming out with a genuinely approachable Wonder Woman book for what seems to be a younger demographic.

The art is amateurish, dems alot of boobs, those weapons look rediculous, lol silly pointless invasion and wat. Which is funny because I actually like the opening scene of Wonderwoman fighting the minotaurs for fun. And that the Themyscarans have armored dogs. But otherwise, bleh, terrible.

I like this! It's a lot of fun. And it makes sense that the only child in thousands of years would be a bit of a spoiled brat. And she's just. she's really fun.

also that first panel gives me Monkey Island flashbacks.

This seems interesting. The art is quite good, the storyline largely makes sense, etc. I'm not sure if the lead quite reads as Diana of Themyscira to me, but I'm oddly all right with it anyways. Seems... fun.

As a long term Wonder Woman fan I love the AME-Comi version. It far surpasses Azzarello's.
