You know I wouldn't mind Lucy and Clark getting into a relationship for a sort while.

Later in the issue clark as superman fights a Predator look alike alien.

I'm so glad that they didn't make this guy a douchebag. That would have been a WAY easy move.

I'm also glad they're going to try him with Lucy for a while--for a while I was worried they were going to go with that reporter lady from Perez's arc, which...if you're going to break him away from his fellow spunky reporter to put him with another spunky reporter, then what was the point?

The only thing that disappoints me is that this thing was advertised as the origin of the suit...and we don't get the origin of the suit.

I'd rather Clark just not date until they're ready to start dating him and Lois. So any other relationship is just a waste of my time.

But he has such a douche bag face!
Hahah, no, I kid :) I wanna see more interactions with all four of them. They could have like a weekly dinner talking about stuff.

Wow, they're serious with that alien? With the dreadlocks and the two pronged spike hand and the mask?

All its missing is Ahnuld in the background screaming "GET TO DA CHOPPA!"

If next issue we go all the way, have the mask revealed to be a hideous alien face, and Superman starts to say "You are one ugly mother--" I will take back almost every complaint I've ever had about Jurgens.

So are we meant to find this Lois, who seems to be really quite spitefully charging expensive shit to Clark's tab - or trying to - endearing in the slightest? Or is this a hack job by DC?

SERIOUSLY. They could have gotten the "he's a good guy" point across without going anywhere near this type of plot.

I don't see it as that as particularly spiteful to be honest.

A tad cruel perhaps, but Clark agreed to the terms of the deal, he must have known that ordering wildly expensive things was a distinct possibility and Lois is wanting to make him pay for what she believes was him abandoning her sister when he promised to pick her up. She enjoying his discomfort, but I don't assume schadenfreude is the same as spiteful, just human.

Stiffing Lucy with the bill was a crappy move on ALL their parts though.

I still don't think it makes her particularly endearing or compelling. I know non-married Lois is meant to do the whole 'Smallville' thing and make jabs about Clark being a farmboy, but this just feels like taking it a little too far. There're ways she could make Clark suffer - albeit comically - without the threat of charging him about $600 just for wine. I can't imagine Clark makes that much, and I don't care if he did stand her sister up, it's just mean-spirited and feels out of character for her.

I should imagine that Lois is aware of Clark's salary and relative financial state (She IS an investigative reporter after all) and wouldn't have gone beyond what it was likely he could afford, even if he would never normally spend that sort of money on such a thing. He might be on McNuggets for a week or two to balance out the budget, but...

Hell, with her recent promotion, she's in more of a boss position.

Considering that Jon offers to split the tab, maybe they planned to do that from the start and Lois wanted to make Clark sweat for a minute.

Given Jon calls Lois 'painfully transparent', I think that's more a case of him being a nice guy.

Thinking about it, though, I'm still of the mind this is just a bit of a hack job with Lois, but on the writer's behalf, not DC editorial's, given she's not like this over in Action Comics.

So this dude was introduced as a major new character almost a year ago and then... nothing. Huh. He was even a last page "SURPRISE!" moment when he first appeared, yet we're already on the second creative team before he even shows up again?

I have to wonder if maybe Perez didn't consider him a big deal but DC did?

I just find it funny how both Clark and Lois--both whom have black hair--are being paired up with blondes. Still, it's not a bad angle for the Superman/Clark/Lois triangle in having Lucy essentially compete with her own sister for Clark affections. Still, the thing which has been severely lacking emphasis ever since the relaunch is Lois' attraction towards Superman. Nothing against Lois dating other guys like Jonathan Carrol and seeing Clark as just a friend, but it's just not Lois if she doesn't have some kind of crush on the Man of Steel, IMO.

Who's doing the art on this book? Is Clark supposed to look like a complete doucher?

Also I love how Clark's suit changes from dark gray to blue to black. and John Carroll shirt goes from yellow to blue.

Piss poor.

What does a "complete doucher" look like? Because it would be terribly useful for avoiding them in the future, but I've found they tend to look just like other people for the most part.

Dan Jurgens is doing something between layouts and pencils, and Jesus Marino is doing the inking.

One of the earliest New 52 images showed Superman macking it with Wonder Woman. Whatever happened to that?

either something that was never really going to happen or fan rage made it stop before it started

I don't remember seeing that at ALL, and I was pretty up on the news of it during that time. Are you sure it wasn't fan art?

They did talk about it at conventions, and one of the reasons a lot of fans assumed that they were breaking up Clark and Lois was so that they could try that out. I'm thinking it could potentially be something they try out once the League has matured a little and stopped acting like a bunch of five year olds.

The last time people saw Lucy Lane in comics she was Superwoman. People who watched Smallville saw he as Lois' manipulative criminal sister.

Now a Lucy Lane is being set up as Clark's love interest?

I don't care if it's a different universe and character. The name has a history that tells you nothing will come of it. And it makes her a character you just insert, she has to be built up.

I just noted that Clark's thumb is merging with his chin in one of those panels. That's terrifying.
