X-Force makes use of a dying Gateways to teleport away from an impending explosion. They end up...

... 30 years later.

Future!Deathlok convinces them to go with him, to try to escape "them". Who's "they"?

That would be Cable, Deadpool and Hope Summers. Awwww, the family is together again ♥ Can't be too bad a future!

You know what book I would totally buy? A book in which characters go to the future and everything is all hugs and puppies. A future in which everyone is more or less happy, or at least not in a post-Apocalypse wasteland. (Minor pun intended.) I think the closest we ever got to that was X-men: The End and its aggressively mediocre sequel series, GeneXt.

Also, wonder if they got around to solving the "no more mutants" problem in the future.

Fantastic Four was pretty good too- it had it's wistful moments: due to their immortality the Fantastic Four are drifting apart to pursue different goals and don't see each other that much anymore, some loved ones have been lost, and the Inhumans are moving towards a hardline antihuman stance, but on the other hand, there's no war, disease, or death of old age, and Earth (and the colonized solar system) is on it's way to become a full-fledged member of the galactic community.

MC2? I know Spider-girl was the only book out of that that had any legs, but probably the closest Marvel have come to a What If? style future that wasn't unrepentingly terrible.

MC2 or Spider-Girl's earth is the best Marvel future in my eyes. Things are better. Not perfect but better. The work of superheros is shown to have made things better and they are more accepted. It actually looks like sixteen years in the future instead of strait up science fiction future land. Even Mutants have been shown to make great strides with the X-Men turning into the X-People and having several stories.

I shows that real lasting change takes time and effort not taking over the world.

Have they ever land in an uber-utopia, where everything they been fighting for become into reality... only in a forced, cold, twisted way. Like class rooms, in the means of ensuring the ability of teaching everyone everything on a grading system via forcing the info into their minds EM, basically summing up 400 page books into a minute, every minute, for at least 6 to 8 hours...

The thing is, in real life people are still debating whether we should engage in preemptive violence, this is hardly a cut and dry issue.

If we killed Hitler and his ilk prior to WWII would it have still happened?
If we had killed Osama Bin Laden before 9/11 would those people still be alive?

I neither condone nor condemn future Logan and Braddock's actions - I merely understand the reason behind them.

Calling this a "bad future," isn't entirely accurate. To people living in terror every moment of every day in war torn parts of the world this would seem like a very GOOD future. Everything's relative.

I'm just remembering an old issue of the New Mutants where they're sent to the future and run into one of the Power Pack girls. I liked that. This? This just doesn't do it for me. The post apocalyptic stuff is getting old. It's not some gritty storyline. It's just lazy...

I thought Deathlok's future had Apocalypse as the savior of mankind but maybe that was changed when Father was defeated.

It's pretty cool that Psylocke is the leader of this Minority Report future considering that she's had a few precognitive flashes in the past.

Just read this one this afternoon.

Yes, it is X-Force versus The Minority Report. Okay, that isn't a big deal to me. What I am most interested in is the growth of the Deadpool character here. And the simultaneous growth of AoA Nightcrawler. Those dudes have a good discussion here that was actually endearing.

I don't read X-Force every issue (or any other superhero comic) and what feels lovely is the leaps that occur over time and the figuring out of emotional spaces between the skipped issues. The thing that happened which was so cool is that i laughed a lot while reading this. Full disclosure, I was on the train and there was a horrible man harrassing people and intimidating the other passengers. So not an ideal reading space!! Anyway there I sat, enjoying this comic which somehow features Cable and Punisher and somehow pushes them into the background--an incredibly ballsy feat if you ask me.

"Just thinking up some jokes to make about Deathlok."

Honestly, the only reason that I bought this comic was the stunning cover that features people holding and wielding guns PROPERLY. Can we talk about trigger discipline in comic books? That seems like a conversation worth having.

Any thoughts?
