I think John Byrne mentioned back in an interview in his "Man of Steel" days that when he was little he'd thought of Superman's logo as two fish swimming past each other.

Yep. I'm certain this is a reference to that, and even if not, it's certainly what came immediately to mind.

Byrne also said he always drew it as two fish, even though he know it was actually an S.

It's like a Rorschach ink blot test or one of those maiden/crone illusions.

Whether you see the yellow fish on the red background, or the red S on the yellow background probably says something profound about your inner nature. I have no idea what, but it probably says it.

Yeah, that was awesome! It's the first time that I could actually see it.

It makes me wonder if the House of El purposely picked a symbol of balance like the yin/yang.

The fact it's in a triangle might argue against that.

Thanks! :D I didn't even notice the yin/yang thing, but now that you mention it, that would be really cool. Although I wonder if what Kryptonians would call the concept of yin and yang. :0

Okay, I kinda like that his outfit is just t-shirts he got his logo printed on... but I hope you paid cash and don't have to give that guy a name for your order, Clark.

(Or maybe he was too stupid / naive to think of that and this is how Lois tracks down his secret identity, using her super-newspaper-sleuthing?)

Looking back I don't actually think it's said if he paid in cash, but I feel pretty confident that Morrison wouldn't use buying the t-shirts as the way to explain Lois figuring out his identity. I mean, not only would Clark seem monumentally stupid but it would hardly be super-newspaper-sleuthing to ask the guy who made the costume the name of the customer. Plus it's she's still oblivious after the timeskip and it's made clear that no one actually knows for sure where Superman first got the shirts, since every shop in town tries to claim that fame.

I think I'd gag at such bad story-writing. If Clark didn't pay in cash, you'd know Lois would canvass every custom shirt store in the vicinity to see if something like that popped up. Alternately, it could be something very cute and build on the sort-of romance that they've been digging at in Superman, at least.

"You seriously used your debit card to pay for the shirt?"

"He seemed like such a trustworthy man."

The only thing I like is the idea that he ordered 200. I can't decide if he damages them often, or just doesn't like doing coin laundry. Maybe he goes home to Ma Kent twice a year with 200 dirty pairs of underwear too?

That'd be so hilarious if it were the latter. But it looked like he went through shirts fairly quick as it was.

Did Pandora mess with one of our favourite purple hatted 5th dimensional Imps' tricks? Cause if so.... PANDORRAAAA!*

*Screaming your enemy's name in an interminable fashion is a registered trademark of Dr. Doom. Surname: Doom, Given Names: Victor Von. The Punishment for parodying our glorious leader is death. Also the punishment for calling him by his legal name is death. And the punishment for being Reed Richards is death, the date and time of which to be determined at a later time.

Von isn't a middle-name, it's part of his surname. (although I think in the phone catalog it would go under D, von Doom, Victor)

As much as I'm onboard to blame Pandora for all of our woes, in issue 11 Ms. Nyxly spoke of a rogue imp who injured her beloved nephew Mxyzptlk. This as yet unnamed imp seems to be the sinister short guy who keeps showing up and acting creepy.

So he made those shirt printed?...
I love that actually! XD
Kinda brings the whole "superhero persona" down to earth :)

And I love seeing him best buds with Jimmy, playing together and all~

Wow! The art is stunning and it's great to see Ben Oliver on an issue where he has sufficient time to draw actual backgrounds. As much as I love Marcus To, I do miss seeing Oliver's work in Batwing.

The art is stunning

Really?

I find the art on this story was a brilliant example of the principle that every line you add to a face is a year added to the character's age. Clark and Jimmy look like old men in the scene where they're playing the game (and everybody runs back and forth on that line throughout the issue).

Cafu's art on the backup, on the other hand, is magnificent.

I'd agree. I keep thinking that Clark looks malbourished. So much for gaining 10 pounds when you enter college, and 10 pounds when you start your first job. Somebody get that boy a sandwich!
