In Which Psylocke and Domino infiltrate a cult....and a question about A vs X (MAJOR SPOILERS)

I bring you three scans from X-Men #34. And I have a question regarding what has been happening in Avengers vs X-Men. I am rather saddened by what happened.


So to start things off, as the title suggests, Psylocke and Domino have infiltrated a cult called Heaven's Gate Heavenly Path. The cult leader notices Betsy and requests a private chat with her.



While she waits to meet with the leader of Heaven's Gate Heavenly Cult, she gets in touch with Domino.




So, the cult leader finally arrives to speak with Betsy. But then...this happens.




AHH WHAT IN THE......oh wait...he has problems with his eyes.

So now switching gears a bit, I have a question related to recent events in Avengers vs X-Men. (I'd put the text under spoiler tags but I cannot find information on how to. Do they even exist?)

Okay so....

Is Emma Frost really dead? That upsets me. I mean, it's like, we grew from hating her when she first appeared as a villain, but then she was able to redeem herself, and although at times she had an icey personality, she was still an important member of the X-Men. Aside from my issues with New X-Men (WATCH ME PUT ON THE DARK PHOENIX OUTFIT FOR YOU SCOTT SO WE CAN HAVE SOME FUN) and Phoenix: Endsong ("Scott...it's okay. Go with Emma") etc, she was starting to grow on me this past decade. But now I am scared that she's dead and I'm worried she will never come back. I figured she was going to die so they could make room for Jean Grey's return but...I just don't get why they can't have both women on the team at the same time. What do you think?

Again, I apologize if my question seems rather...."whiny" in a sense, but I'm just as shocked as everyone else with what happened.

Can't see any reason to believe she's dead, and she HAS been seen on future covers, so my quick guess would be "No".

But I'm kinda annoyed too, she was for the most part an interesting character.

Emma's not dead. As revealed in UXM, she was increasingly feeling the urge to destroy the planet and start anew, but she was fighting it down at Scott's request. He took the power from her for that reason and other reasons, but she appears to be okay.

Makes sense. Emma has very few moral scruples, for all that her high intelligence and strong will usually keep her desires in check. I say that as someone who respects her.

Ah I see. I just saw the panels in the other post and I thought she died, the blood coming out of her nose and what not. But they just knocked her out?

She yet lives; Daredevil bounced his club off her neutralized head in this week's New Avengers.

well, there's a couple of posts already about this week's issue of AvX so posting it there would have made more sense. Then again you wouldn't have got as many answers, of course, so from that PoV, I guess it makes sense to post it like that.

For a second there I was worried they were trying to pull a fast one and kill off one girl to make room for the other girl, since it's like Scott can't make up his mind. Or they could just have Jean come back and get together with Logan, but I dunno if that would faire well with everyone. (Going by their kiss back when Xavier was kidnapped and held in Genosha in like 2000/2001ish, when Jean went and recruited a bunch of different mutants, like Sunpyre, etc)

We definitely see her alive in this week's New Avengers--what happened to her was the same thing that happened to the other three, beaten until the point where the Phoenix decides they're no longer of use to it.

And that's when they sort of fall unconscious, nosebleeds and whatnot right?

Yep--as of AVX #11, not only is Scott the only Phoenix avatar left, but after killing Xavier, he pretty much goes Dark Phoenix on everyone.

Honestly, I hope that we don't have any of that, and what happens in All-New X-Men starts in that book--few things grinds my gears in event comics more than doing that whole "that event's over, so here's the hints to the next event!" thing.

I've really been enjoying Wood's X-men, it's been a great break from AVX garbage.

So I'm really disappointed that he's leaving the book with issue 38

Emma is alive.

She was seen in New Avengers # 30 which is a bit after AvX. That said, it seems she's been arrested.

Makes me wonder what will happen to her and Scott after AvX.

I want Psylocke to kill him with her psychic ninja blade just because he said "more perfect."

Perfection is an absolute. An ideal to strive towards. There are not grades of perfect.

The closest I've ever heard to an acceptable use is, "I can't think of a more perfect _____" which is really just a flowery way of saying "better" or that "this is the ideal, no other is a better example of the ideal."

And of course the infamous "more perfect union" :P

No, she's not dead, at least not in AvX #11. The page after the posted ones has Emma saying "Oh no..." is response to Scott going Dark Phoenix. So talking = alive.
