So, our intrepid band has followed Ariel and Chance, and end up where?:

Gotta say, there's a little something skeevy about this whole setup. Of course, there's a little something skeevy with the Vanisher too, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, they make the newcomers welcome, we find out that Don and Bill have rather, shall I say "eclectic" tastes in music. Madrox-prime and Siryn are still at the restaurant where they were left behind. They have dinner, and Madrox talks about his dupes and the fact that each is its own person. Then we run into the dupe that was helping the woman with her luggage last issue:

More about this in later issues. Back at Beat Street headquarters (hey, did Joe Simon and Jack Kirby come up with these names?) the Madrox dupes reintegrate, Ariel and Chance return with food, and we discover that Gomi has a super power of his own, albeit one that's not quite so reliable. The Vanisher yells at Gomi for causing a mess, which brings a swift attack from Bill. Bobby gets whiny about how Don and Bill are more loyal than the New Mutants, and finally we get to the best part of this issue, the origin of Gomi (and Don and Bill too).

Frankly, I love Gomi's origin. He's so low-key about everything, and the story has so much dark humor about it.
In order to show all of Gomi's origin, I had to make some choices about which scans to include, and I've reached the one-third point, so I'll recap the rest of the issue.
We get a brief explanation of Ariel's powers (and no, she doesn't really know how they work). Boom Boom, a former member of the club is "rescued" from X-Factor headquarters (this was back when everyone thought X-Factor's primary purpose was to hunt mutants). Bobby and Hank are happy to be rid of her, in all honesty. Madrox and Siryn locate the Beat Street headquarters, Jamie reintegrates with the dupe that was already there, and Ariel takes them all on a trip to some strange place that I'll be posting about next time.
