Okay, Foul! Defect Doombot, Victor would know that droit du seigneur doesn't actually have a historical basis!

Fun fact: Mark Hammill allegedly thought that Darth Vader WAS Doom when George Lucas showed him the character design the first time.

Doom: fashion conscious!

Spider-man, a fairly clever man who fights crime in a lycra-jumpsuit, goes up against Doom, who routinely wears a fullsuit of metal-power armour. Yeah...

Doom, the Pudding King!

Doom versus Ben Grimm,

Doom versus Moondragon!

I like the idea of some poor bastard in Latveria suddenly being accosted by one of Doom's lackeys and being ordered to enjoy a dessert.

I like the idea that Doom's lackeys pick the same family every time.

Less work than finding a new one each time.
Also I bet the neighors all resent the family now, even though they don't want the dessert...

Ooh Luke Cage is bald now, Doom can call him baldy-locks. And pay for it.

His droit de seigneur is made even creepier by the fact he goes in search of women with a pack of dogs on leash.

aaaand my mind has officially been broken.

To be fair, if doom rolled up to my door and demanded to have his "droit du seigneur" with me and my roomates, i doubt a man among us could refuse.

(also "Doom forever walks alone" has gotta qualify as both one of the most badass, tragic, and hilarious sentances ever uttered)

Is the Vader vs Doom picture from an actual book? If so !!

No you miss the true genius in that line. It is "Doom walks Forever Alone."

Doom created an internet meme years before the internet as we know it.

Is doom demanding that the woman have sex with him or demanding she simply walk with him. The previous few pannels seem to be him lamenting (as much as Doom laments anything) the fact that people run away from him.

If it's sex it seems out of character. I think it was an issue of black panther where Doom says something to the effect that blacks are stronger physical specimens than whites to make up for lack of intelligence. It just felt wrong.

Its not a stretch to believe that a despotic dictator would do such a thing but Dr Doom should be above petty racism and sexual domination. In his mind There are no races and genders only Doom and everyone else. His only desire should be to rule the world for the most narcissistic of reason, he would make a better benevolent dictator than any other type of leader

Of course it would be a Hudlin issue. Because the white supervillain has to attack the black superhero on racist terms.

Nope, "droit de seigneur" specifically refers to the (probably mythical) right for the lord to have sex with any unmarried serf woman. It doesn't make much sense to me, either. Maybe they're going to go for a walk while he explains the formation of mythical concepts in European history?

There was a strong thread of male chauvinism in the character for a long time... for example, I don't think he took Susan Richards as a serious foe in her own right until the Byrne era.

Point, at least early on. I do remember her being treated as a serious contributing member of the team when I started reading around the 170s though. I don't think Doom dropped the condescension (as much as he drops it for anyone not named Morgan Le Fay, anyway) for another 85 issues or so.

The masked villain Malice showed up and wiped the floor with the three male FF'ers in turn, before eventually being revealed to be Sue, turned evil by a Hatemonger... (And in a nice touch, it was sort of hard to work out how she was doing it, until the eventual reveal that she was Sue, and in retrospect the use of her forcefields made it obvious how she had done it.)

And the slapping scene has been suggested as not being as truly horrible as it might appear out of context. It's quite possible that Reed didnt slap her to bring her to her senses because she was a hysterical woman, but he realised that the hatred Sue felt was being artifically induced and theorised that making her REALLY hate him might break the hold, and slapping her was a good shortcut. (Not defending assaulting ANYONE "for their own good", but it's sort of a mitigator I think)

That was how it played out in the story - Reed suddenly started acting in a cartoonishly demeaning manner toward Sue so that the genuine fury it would spark toward him would override the artificial emotion. I'm pretty sure he said as much upfront afterwards.

You're right about that and part of that is the pre-feminist gender roles in society, its a product of the time it was written (hence the most powerful member gets kidnapped and is the damsel in distress). But putting that aside I always took that as Doom's chauvinishm was insulting the fantastic four by their most obvious train. "Sue Storm you stupid woman" "Johnny Storm you stupid child" "Grimm you buffoonish beast". Not out and out sexism, but a general arrogant narcissistic misanthropy.

Perhaps, ranDOOM moments?

Hah hah, oh man. I have this serious mental image of a Latverian peasant family trying really hard to smile as they eat that dessert at gunpoint.

The guns are held by enjoyment detecting robots.

They are enjoyment enhancing emotion guns.

But the family doesn't know that.

I want to believe that the first scan ended up with Doom showing Gretchen his slides. "Oh, hey, check this out--this is the first time I met the FF. Check out Ben Grimm in his Blackbeard outfit. Isn't that hilarious? I mean, I hate to make fun of the deformed, but when I take my spaceship into orbit, I make sure that it has plenty of radiation shielding. More Cheetos?"

"Yes, my liege, they're scrumptious! Where are they from?"

"America. The only reason that I haven't nuked that country into green glass is that I need to come up with some way of sparing the Frito-Lay factories."

"You are wise and merciful, my liege!"

"Big-ass force fields is what I'm thinking. Oh, hey, here's that crazy Squirrel Girl chick. Don't tell anyone, but I threw this fight on purpose. She's so goofy-cute, I couldn't bear to just flood the shuttle with halon gas and smother her and her tree-rats."
