Man, I'm just glad to SEE Namor. I know he's an ass, but they've done a lot with him recently that I'd hate to see him fall to the wayside again. So....how much were the Phoenix Five in control of their actions?

I'll never forget that scene where she was lecturing the Professor. Sometimes I feel like they purposefully made Hope very unlikable.

Namor kinda deserves the berating though, and honestly he takes it fairly well for him. I'd say he's actually being slightly less of an ass than usual given that he actually gives her a semblance of an explanation, which is more than many would get.

like, if you click her tag, 90% of the posts are probably her berating someone/accusing them/telling them how wrong they are about life, the universe and everything else/calling them monsters who destroy lives.

she's the mutant messiah, but her connection to actual mutant characters other than cable and the lights (and lol, that) is so... insubstantial? my english is failing me.

i just have a hateboner for the character, ignore me.

I love Namor. He's one of my favorite characters.

I do find it odd, though, that him decimating an entire country seems to be a footnote to Cyclops killing one guy.

And I'm not familiar with Namor's character other than a vaguely lothario-esque character with an attraction to Susan Storm. Is he always so nonchalant about inflicting massive collateral damage?

Marvel has destroyed planets in the past and hardly done anything with it so we've had incidental genocide

I thought what Namor said was as close as we're going to get to him admitting that he wasn't in control of his actions when he attacked Wakanda. The man is walking pride and ego, so we shouldn't be surprised if he'd rather people think what he did to Wakanda was all him, but Hope's words clearly shook him.

What with Logan admitting in this issue that he knows Scott would never kill the Professor deliberately, perhaps we're getting past the ridiculous and tiresome notion that the P5 should be held responsible for their actions while possessed? I certainly hope that's the direction Marvel is going. It's not like this is the first (or 20th) time innocent civilians have died when characters have been possessed or brainwashed, and yet the possessed character is almost always absolved. It would be disingenuous for Marvel to act like this time is somehow different.

Ultimately the Phoenix Force itself was the true villain. It was benevolent in the past, but not in this story. It killed billions on its way to Earth, it would have overwhelmed Hope, it drove the P5 to villainy by exaggerating their worst traits, and it nearly destroyed Earth. It's telling that the only way Hope and the Scarlet Witch could salvage a somewhat happy ending was to kill the overgrown fire parrot. The undoing of M-day was simply a side-effect.

I get the impression even the Avengers are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt (well, except maybe T'Challa with Namor) but they at least want to bring them in to hash it out, likely for everyone's peace of mind. I'd imagine if they ever went to trial most if not all of them would be able to get absolved, provided a fair-minded jury and a competent defense lawyer (neither a guarantee in the Marvel Universe).

Even Cap pointed out to Cyclops that he understood he was "under the influence" but it was Cyclops' unrepentant attitude that was keeping him confined.

Basically Scott "confessed" whether he was genuinely guilty or not.
