I LOVED the scene with Baz and the Justice League. For half a second we got to see some genuine human conflict resolution until Sinestro's plans just ruin it for everyone--not to mention the continual beef with Batman. :D

And the scene with the First Lantern's gotten even more interesting now that we know that he's going to break out and wreck some shit in February.

Not liking Gardner is one thing, but hoping that he's dead? Not impressed.

And oh look mysterious Guardians we've never seen or had cause to suspect existed before, I wonder if they might be being prepped to replace someone.. or someones.

I think it may have been more of a 'If it's any of them, let it be Gardner.' Although, he and Flash have worked together before, I can see Wally make that jo-

Shit, this is Barry, isn't?

To be fair, they've borrowed quite a bit from Wally's characterization for DCnU Barry.

From the bits and pieces I've seen, they seem to be turning Barry into the jokester of the group, a la Flash in JLU. It's not that bad of a joke, and I can definitely see that interpretation of Flash making it.

I know that was meant to be a flip line, but it doesn't sound like Barry at all, ever. It might have been Wally, but that's a little harsh for him even on a bad day.

Overall this looks like a totally cromulent story. Nothing that sets the world on fire, but a decent enough straightforward superhero story.

Yeah, that was a pretty dick line on Barry's part. And why would he even say that? Has he even ever met Guy? Have they had any interactions at all?

Ugh, Barry.

LOL. My exact reaction was "Ugh, Barry". But, I'm biased.

All due respect to Mahnke, but that shot of Superman with the arched eyebrow is about the least Superman-looking Superman I've ever seen.

Why don't the Guardians just go after the Anti-Life Equation instead of relying on a bootlegged version of the Borg/Tyranid/Zerg?

Because that would require Geoff Johns using something someone else established, meaning he wouldn't get any story credit.

Atrocitus and the War of the Lanterns aren't his either are they? They were introduced as throwaway references in an Alan Moore story IIRC.

Yeah, actually, it's surprising how much of Johns "innovative" work is really just taking other writer's ideas and expanding on them.

Then again, that happens in comics all the time, but I hardly find Johns to be an "original" writer.

Come on, everyone, join in the fun!
*rises evebrow*

ANYWAYS!
Well...that's...I mean.. I'm okay with Baz, but the whole storyarc reeks of "What? Again?"
Guardians act like douches/are the cause of the upcoming new war/event: Check!
Hal will save the day hopefully with some unwanted help from Sinestro: Check!
I'm waiting until Geoff Johns decide to bring back Abin Sur as a threat/cause for a future even/story arc.

*goes back to reading Kyle Rayner's run*

I try to think that everything Geoff Johns did with Green Lantern is just one huge storyarc about the Guardians' fall into villainy. Pretty much everything from Sinestro Corps War onwards has been about the Guardians cracking under pressure and the weight of their own egos.

You just know that the Guardians using this guy's energy as the power source for their Third Army is just going to come back and bite them in the ass, most likely in a 'I can control everything I'm a part of' kind of way.

Calling it right now.

Well, we all know it's going to happen - I mean, look at the Alpha Lanterns.

I'm just surprised Johns might possibly make a method as to HOW this is going to backfire in their stupid blue faces so readily obvious.

Maybe it's to show just how arrogant the Guardians have become. They honestly don't think using a superpowered sadist as a key part of their plan to create an entire army could backfire in any way.

If this guy's the first Lantern, then I think it will be tremendously satisfying if the guy just said 'so, you know those rings your guys used? I can use your new army like those', and then the Guardians would just have the best 'oh, fuck' faces ever.

Although to be honest, I'm kind of interested in whether this guy is as bad as they're making out. The Guardians are exactly reliable narrators any more.

Doing JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM, Michael Rosenbaum said while doing the voice of Barry Allen, "No, I just did Wally West’s voice.” Barry’s comment about Guy Gardner is too much like something Wally would say, and back in the early 1990s.
