Journey Into Mystery #646 - new lead, new direction preview

ComicBookResources has the preview of #646. KidLoki's tale is ended, Sif's tale is about to begin. If the Kathryn Immonen and Valerio Schiti are playing a long game like Kieron did before
them, I am looking for clues and cues right now.
(Don't like being stung like that)




I have to say, I know it's just a few pages, but for some reason it's like reading DCnU Diana of Themyscira... I hope we get a lot of development to really make Lady Sif stand out on her own (aside from Red She-Hulk and Brunhilde the Valkyrie right now).

Still stings right now to play in Asgard, but if ever there was a happy home that would soothe the wounded heart, it's the home of Lion of Asgard, Volstagg.

I got a bad feeling that this book will get a lot of hate because it's not what Gillen was doing with Kid Loki. That said, what I do see looks good. :)

...are these kids never going to grow up? I know that's par for the course for kids in Marvel, save Julie Power, but these are relatively immortal kids, right? That's gotta suck.


I like this direction. I know it's probably gonna get some hate for not being kid!Loki, but screw it, looks fun.

It seems to vary. Some gods grow up much faster than humans, others have childhoods proportional to their extended lifespans.

I think the Asgardians, what with aging slowly but not being truly immortal, probably have that slowed development for their entire lives.

I kind of expected this to suck, because I do not like Kathryn Immonen's work, but it's looking pretty good. I hope it keeps it up.

I've heard people say good things about Immonen's Hellcat, but I never tracked down a copy, and Pixie Strikes Back, Jubilee & Wolverine, and Runaways were all trainwrecks. Don't think I'll be putting down my $4 to see if this bucks the overall trend.

Pixie Strikes Back made sense about the... Fifth time I read it. And her Runaways wasn't that bad; I just thought Moore left her with a whole bunch of stuff to deal with and a status quo that just didn't entirely fit the Runaways at all. And then, of course, Marvel didn't even give her six issues to work with, which I felt was inherently unfair given that some ongoings at Marvel had a rough start and turned into something great.

Her Hellcat was pretty awesome, however.

I'm definitely glad to see they didn't get disappeared by the pantheon's reboot.
