Diana doesn't have a secret identity, I think. Given that everyone at the diner knows Clark, they would most likely find it weird that he's on a date with Wonder Woman.

Something here doesn't sit right with me. And I don't mean the pairing, I mean with this whole scene here. WHy couldn't they just go on a normal date? This is just another rehash of "woman feeling incapable/in emotional distress, man shows personal side and opens her eyes to how wrong she is." Meanwhile the creepy dude and best friend is secretly watching everything through his network of satellites and spy equipment.

Because they're his friends and he cares about them.

Also because when the two most powerful beings on Earth decide to date, the resident non-powered's "this could go wrong" senses start tingling.

Bulllllllshit. I have no problem calling bullshit on this when over in the actual Wonder Woman title we had Diana ready and willing to defend an unborn child and a mother she didn't even know who had appeared in her home out of nowhere. I just can't buy a Wonder Woman who has a crisis of faith like this, apparently so easily.

It'd have more weight if the stuff with Cheetah was actually something we'd seen develop, just like her apparent relationship with Steve Trevor. But because Johns is telling us this stuff happened, not showing, it completely lacks any and all weight and just makes me wonder why I should care. I don't care that Diana lost a friend we'd never really seen properly, just like I didn't care about Steve Trevor being with Diana. We saw none of it happen.

Thank God Azzarello's book is set apart from this piffly nonsense where Wonder Woman's personal problems can only be resolved by Superman. I was willing to see where they were going with this, but.. I should've known. It's Johns, so it's about as subtle as a brick to the face.

And in a sense, this is essentially doing what Wonder Woman fans predicted and feared would happen once DC announced the Superman and Wonder Woman romance--that Diana is now being defined based on her relationship with Superman instead of being defined as a character in her own right.

Well to paraphrase Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly from Back to the Future, "Batman's a peeping tom!" :P

But seriously, you can bet that Batman, knowing that Superman and Wonder Woman are now romantically involved will come to the conclusion that their relationship puts the entire Justice League in jeopardy. Because he knows there is no way the various governments of the world will allow the possible coupling of the two strongest superheroes on Earth.

Not only that, but Batman would also know that a romantic relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman essentially creates an "alliance" and upsets the balance of power, especially since they also happen to be the League's most powerful members. Maybe this is how Shazam/Captain Marvel eventually gets recruited into the Justice League--it's Batman bringing in someone he knows can check both Superman and Wonder Woman in case the two of them decide to go rogue.

Also, considering that Batman calls him a friend, I think Batman's legitimately worried about Superman getting hurt if things don't turn out good between the two.

I laughed out loud at the last panel, the rest of it just reminds me why I read barely any new 52 stuff, if I want an awesome female hero I'll read Chew or Saga or Powers or one of the many other non-DC things I am currently enjoying. It does not help that Wonder Woman looks like a Barbie, her face :(

This was so much better when Kurt Busiek did it in Astro City. Although I have to admit the Samaritan/Winged Victory date story would have been improved if there was a big reveal at the end that the Confessor had been watching the whole thing.

At this point, I'd rather consider them separate entities. I know some of the stuff in Azz' sbook is objectionable, but at the very least he's never really had Wonder Woman suffer a sudden and clichéd crisis of faith that can only be solved by Superman/her new boyfriend. Again, so very glad that Azz's Wonder Woman is basically off in it's own little universe where he apparently won't let the larger DCU hijack the book.

I agree about being squicked by Diana having to be 'saved' by a man here but I do like the date in Smallville and Clark showing her the farm. As for her last panel, it looks as if she's looking right at Bruce (and I wouldn't be surprised if she knew that Paranoid Bat was watching). Oh, the OT3-ness of this issue! ;)
