This is the song by the way, which I discovered through the great and powerful Lindsay Ellis, aka the Nostalgia Chick. Maybe my sense of humour is kind of skewed, but it's so awful it curves back around to be hilarious.


Anyways, here's the poster for the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed, Christopher Nolan-produced(?) Superman movie.



The Nolan influence I can definitely see in the poster, though I'm confident that MoS will probably be a competantly made film, even if it is yet another Superman Origin Story. Also there are rumours that it'll include a hook for the upcoming Justice League movie (yeah, like that'll ever be made) in the form of a cameo (implictly Wonder Woman).

What I've heard about the Man of Steel movie is that it won't explicitly tie into any other properties but it will leave the door open to future crossovers, which strikes me as the best choice since I wouldn't want them rushing to cast a Wonder Woman for the sole purpose of a cameo.
Not loving what I'm seeing in the poster. I get that Supes would totally surrender himself to the authorities, but I've never particularly cared for "Superman vs entrenched authorities" stories very much. As a viewer, I know that Superman is a good guy, so the government being paranoid about him is pretty much always going to strike me as stupid.
Also apparently the villain for the JLA movie is rumored to be Darkseid, which is.... certainly a choice I guess. I feel like it could devolve into a race to the box office between Marvel with Thanos and DC with Darkseid, each attempting to not look like it's copying the other, which could be bad for the quality of the movies. Plus, using Darkseid would be a classic example of "Where the hell do we go from here?"

Personally? If I were making a Justice League film I'd make it about either the Injustice League or the Legion of Doom first.

That way they could incorperate the rogues galleries of each of the members first, and thus have the JLA form to counter the bad guys unionising.

Plus it would emphasise how each member of the League is important due to their own specialities, and people won't complain about members being redundant.

Like those annoying people who say "Why do they even have Batman in the League, he's got no superpowers, he's useless compaired even to Aquaman!".

What is the point of putting hand cuffs and guards on Superman? Like maybe handcuffs are just standard procedure, but what exactly is SWAT going to do against Superman?

Handcuffs are standard procedure because they WORK, except for the fact that they wouldn't work on Superman unless his powers are disabled during that scene. So unless he's not faster than a speeding bullet and stronger than a locomotive I have NO idea why he's wearing handcuffs.

They indicate he's peacefully submitted to lawful detention. Yes, he could break them at any time he wished, but the only way you handcuff Superman is because he let you.

And depending on how many acts of strength he's shown before that point, they might think, "Oh, we made these cuffs out of solid titanium, he can't break out of those!" Then at some point he either gets them to agree to try to work together or there's a situation where he has to get out of there, and he'll just break them and hand them back over.

I have a deep and burning hatred for the fucking Christmas Shoes. When I become Queen of the World, I am ordering it purged from the radio, bookstores, DVD, and human memory.

I still bought Grandma a copy of the book, though, and want to see if the movie is on DVD, because I know she'd like to watch it (she doesn't have the Hallmark channel on her TV).

I think that the film is on DVD at the moment, I've seen parts of it and it's HILARIOUSLY awful.

Snide comments about how the narrator of the song should spend less time working as a lawyer helping impoverished farmers sue the corporation that bankrupted them, and more time with his whiny ungrateful family. Mocking said lawyer's Mercedes and telling him to buy an American model car. People making the kid with the dying mother root through garbage to teach him the value of a good work ethic when, you know, HIS MOTHER'S DYING!

The list goes on.

I was going to include a thing about her living on the remains of the allowance she had due to being part of the Wayne flock (this was canon in her solo series), but I cut it for pacing issues.

In my headcanon, Cass has been using her "unlimited credit" line from Bruce to build her own empire. Hey, if Dick and Alfred can let Hush give away billions of Bruce's money, I doubt anyone will notice.

And Christmas Shoes. Gads. The worst Christmas song ever. Treacly and manipulative. It ranks right up there with "Mary Did You Know" which is horrible because yes, she DID know who her son was going to be - that was pointed out several times - did the songwriters not read the Gospels?

i admit christmas shoes is a treacly... but i loved it anyways (always made me cry and my friends never let me forget it)

Holy crap, that was Rob Lowe? And Neil Patrick Harris was in the sequel? How much did Hallmark pay these guys to star these films?

At least casting Angus T. Jones in the second movie was spot-on.

What sentimental rubbish is this, now? I've never heard this song before, but it's appalling. Small and allegedly adorable children begging for consumerist knick-knacks, at least the Little Match Girl (my personal benchmark for festive glurge) was, you know, trying not to die of hypothermia. And despite the act of charity, that's a shockingly self-centred sentiment from the singer- Jesus keeps this kid in poverty and his mother on her deathbed to teach ME a lesson!

There are days when I'd gladly cancel Christmas. Songs like this are the reason why, although possibly I need another mug of tea.
