i really like this answer and for some reason have become super attach to this seemingly random character. Hope he continues to show up in this series.

I do believe he's some sort of wonderful new variety of LARPer that's emerged as a sub-culture of 616 New York. They hang out in jazz bars and diners waiting for the next big superhero-related disaster, then run around with flashbulb cameras, notebooks and/or big detective's trenchcoats shouting "It's the event of the century!" "Let's get a word from the big heroes!", "Holy Penis, what a scoop!", and so on.

Who is the white-haired guy on the cover? Johnny from the future or something?

I think so, he shows up at the end of the issue with fire powers, so that seems to be it. Then again we know that our Johnny is going to be fine in the long run, so it'll be interesting to see if this guy is from an alternate future or something.

I felt this issue was a bit weaker than the last one...I am hoping it's just teething problems though, and that once the necessary setup stuff is out of the way the kookiness will shine through.

Medusa expecting royal treatment is kinda jarring - she lived in the world for years as a commoner before marrying Black Bolt, and has been a member of the FF before. She has always come across to me as a lot more grounded than what we're seeing here.

Also, Darla playing with Leech and Artie cemented my love for her (I actually like her more than Johnny after the past two issues of both FF titles) but it's super weird that she is the only one who seems to realise how ridiculous it is for her to be a member of the team. I do think she is gonna actually develop into a kickass hero with a lot of heart, but it's strange that she's been thrown into this role completely arbitrarily and all the experienced heroes around her are all for it....

I am gonna give it 4 or 5 issues to see how it develops. I love Shulkie and Medusa, removing Franklin and Val from the book is giving the other kids some time to shine, and even though I don't think this is his best effort, I love Allred's art as well.

Yeah, Darla is likable, but it is definitely weird that no one seems to question her position on the team at all. I mean, Dragon Man rushed her off to fight Moleman without a second thought, and everyone seemed upset when she wanted to leave. It's not a huge problem, but it is kind of hard to ignore the fact that there are far more qualified heroes who could fill the position.

They keep presenting Medusa as exceedingly aristocratic and arrogant, but I really don't recall her being that way in previous stories. She's been part of the Fantastic Four in the past, I don't see why should be expecting serveants.

So they ARE going with that Medusa characterization. Huh. I find it funny, sure, but it needs to quickly be toned down before becoming painful. As others have said, it's totally unlike her prior canon, but if it can be funny, "I'll allow it."

Also, poor giant creature from beneath the Earth. It and the other giant "monsters" should unionize, get regular hours and such. Plus dental. I mean can you imagine the bill for those caps he's gonna need?

Things to like and things to frown upon.

The art is wonderful and I like the sense of fun about the story.

The Medusa characterisation is all wrong, and there's no point in it save to make some jokes about it.

Also, well, a lot of this is jus re-treads of all stories: She-Hulk, a woman dressed up a Thing, Fantastic Four substitutes. It's all so '80s, well, my favourite FF age really, but still...
