Does it bug anyone else when artists show Angel just hovering motionless in mid-air having a conversation? I just imagine him constantly bopping around awkwardly in the breeze to stop from falling outta the sky, no wonder his luscious mane of golden locks are all everywhere....

...so, Warren. Time to answer the age old question. When you do it with a mind-wiped alternate reality version of yourself, is it sex or merely incredibly complex masturbation?

Also, kind glad Jean's addressing the fact that she's dead in this future. She seemed waaaay too blase about it when she found out in the first issue.

I have to laugh at that cover though. I know it's artistic license and all, but the thought that somebody actually stopped to take a picture of broken up Cyclops cradling Jean in his arms at the climax of the Phoenix saga is pretty darn funny!

It's more that the space-barbarian has been drawn so that she looks to be the same size as Oya -- or a little smaller, given that Warbird looks to be sitting closer to the viewer -- that makes me wonder if the artist mistook her for a student rather than staff.

Chances are - that's most likely the case. I don't think this artist has ever been on Wolverine and the X-men, so he might not be familiar with her status.

I'm actually not sure, between Warren and Jean, which one has the bigger reality to mesh with.

"Ok, I get that.. you died, what, three times? I've had my wings torn off, transformed into some guy named Apocalypse's he-toy, looked like the Anti-Smurf, oh, and my nice feathery wings are now some kind of techno-organic weapon."

Seriously, these two can one-up themselves until Logan runs out of beer.

Let's face it, the only one of the original 5 who'll have a boring conversation with their future is Iceman.

What's he gonna say? "When you grow up you'll be starved for attention and generally not have to much of an impact story wise... also, you'll look a little cooler now, but I don't know why that is."

Hopefully, Bendis will *actually* go down that route for him, and make past!Iceman wanna become a bit more of a contribution to the team (not just fighting bad guys).

My sweet lord...Angel's hair looks luxurious. I can't stop staring. And I would totally read a comic we're past and future Angel hook up. It'll probably be the only way I'll actually pick up this title.

Nice indeed - the tangled mess issue may still apply, but it's both so pretty and so metal at the same time. While I agree that short hair or proper headgear are far more practical, it's a good way to display movement and emphasize the unique properties of "this" version of Warren versus his younger self.
In a way - and yes, the way he hovers/floats does factor in, IMHO - I get a distant Hagiwara vibe, since old man Kazushi is rather prone to the "expressive hair" trope whenever flying characters are concerned.

Also, motorcycles save the day. Young Scott's going, "Ooo, shiny."

Such trascendent FABULOUSness might as well be Warren's actual primary mutation, with the wings being part of the package deal: we should just hand him over to CLAMP, and see what happens next!...

In any way, it should feature gently drifting and swirling blossoms, feathers and faerie lights. Oh, and lots of ribbons too. Especially the ribbons.
