Four pages from TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE #12. The latest issue puts a focus on one of the strongest relationships currently being depicted in comics, that between Autobots Rewind and Chromedome.
During a raid on an enemy lair, Rewind has sustained grave injuries.
While waiting to see how Rewind will respond to the treatment, Chromedome speaks to Tailgate.
And so, How Rewind Met Chromedome:
The outlook is grim: Turns out Chromedome's spark is "low yield," so it's not up to the task of jumpstarting Rewind, whose only chance now is if another person in the crew who's a compatible donor, as unlikely as that is.
Fortunately, they're able to find someone.

Also, given that Whirl is the reason Rewind's on that slab in need of a spark boost...I think Chromedome will regret that hug if it ever comes out.

Date: 2012-12-22 03:00 am (UTC)Nope, not even close to the first official gay Transformers. That would be Japanese TV Airazor and Tigatron back in Beast Wars. They turned Airazor into a guy, and eventually gave up trying to write around their romantic relationship, and just said 'Oh, heck with it. Well, some folks are like that.'
(Just the TV...the Metals manga used the female Airazor. But that's not really in continuity with the TV series, so the contradiction doesn't matter.)

Date: 2012-12-23 02:05 am (UTC)I guess I just wish that Marvel didn't completely squander then abdandon the Digest imprint (and even to a lesser extent the 'Classic *Insert Title*' trades). In digests four issues feel absolutely worth the money--and come on, I would have loved to have any of the "greatest stories ever" or the core event books in Digest. I don't get why Digests were just for "niche" titles. I'm aware I'm crazy.

But when it comes to the digests, Marvel did just reprint Morrison's X-Men in digest size. I guess they're just fully aware that fans will buy the latest event, if liked enough, in whatever format they put out; A misstep might be the big AvX collection they have just done, which has the negatives of being a not-well-liked event and costing about £50 even on Amazon because it's a bizarrely oversized hardcover.
